Is it hives? or are his arms swollen in the joints or tendons? My daughter had an unexplained swollen knee where she could not even walk. They tested her for juvenile arthritis and lyme disease. I did a quick google search and it looks like there are ticks that cause Lyme in Arizona although it is not as prevalent as in my state, Pennsylvania. (My daughter had lyme disease)

Do not wait until tomorrow. Take him to the doctor today and if his pediatrician says he can't be seen today, I'd go to the ER now. The fact that the other arm is now swelling is not good and is a strong sign he needs to be seen now, without waiting; something is spreading. It could be an allergic reaction but it also could be an infection -- there are lymph nodes in the arms (both under the armpits and near the elbows) and they can swell if you have infection not just in the arms but elsewhere in the body; you cannot know what is going on yourself and really need him to be seen now, not tomorrow!

I had a swollen arm recently and it turned out I had an infection in my finger (in a very, very tiny cut--I had barely noticed it) and it still was enough to swell that arm painfully. An untreated infection will spread through the body.

This is nothing to do with your housekeeping; that doesn't matter. I sounds like you're assuming this is a bug bite and trying to figure out how he got bitten but don't worry about the "how" right now. Please get him seen today and update us here. It likely is something minor but it's time for a doctor.

I agree that it should be seen. Call the pediatrician first thing tomorrow morning.

Take him to the doctor. Today. The swelling is a concern, pain is a warning. Please don't wait.

I'd take him to the doctor. No messing around with a swollen arm...

Good luck and please keep us posted!

I am all about herbs and natural medicine. But I wouldn't mess with this. I'd get him seen right away. It could be fairly minor and no big deal. It could be MRSA. Please let us know how he is!

IMO, cleaning the house and sheets every 1-2 days means it's MORE likely to be an infection his body wasn't equipped to handle! But I subscribe to the theory that germ exposure boosts kids' immunity AND I hate house cleaning, so I'm totally biased!

Any kittens around? Sometimes that happens with cat scratch fever.

My husband's arm does that same thing when he gets stung by a bee or wasp - but only the arm he got stung on.
It swells till the skin is tight and he looks like Popeye (and it feels warm to the touch like his arm is having a fever).
Some Benedryl helps.
We haven't taken him to a Dr about it since he doesn't have any trouble breathing.
It really sounds like some sort of allergic reaction to something.
If not a bug bite of some sort then maybe he came into contact with a cleaning residue or soap at this Amazing Jakes place that he's having a reaction to.
If he starts having trouble breathing, take him to an ER right away, otherwise try some Benedryl and monitor for other symptoms.

Ice it overnight and see how it is in the morning. If he can take Benedryl it might help to give him a dose. If the swelling goes down it is probably an allergic reaction to something. Ibuprofen might also help, it helps with inflamation.

Keep an eye on him if this is an allergy he could go into anaphylactic shock and stop breathing.

You can call a near-by ER and ask for advice also.
