I am eagerly counting down the days to when I do not have to buy formula anymore!!! My baby is almost 11 months old. She has been on Enfamil GentleEase since she was about a month old b/c it was the only thing that didn't make her constipated. I have never tried switching back to regular formula b/c I wasn't about to mess with something that was working. Has anyone ever had trouble switching from this brand directly to regular milk. I am just wondering if I will need to start her on a lower lactose milk since that is what the GentleEase is (low lactose). Of course I will ask my doctor but any opinions or advice is welcome. Thanks!

What can I do next?

My oldest was on Enf. Gentlease until age 1 as well, and he had no problems switching to cow's milk or any other dairy product. However, he hasn't ever really like milk until recently (he's almost 4), so I got calcium into him through calcium enriched OJ, apple juice, and calcium rich foods. My youngest had to have soy formula until age 1, and even he has no problems with milk or dairy products.

My youngest used the GentleEase formula and when the time came for us to switch him (right around 11mths), he had no problems at all. We'd put vitamin D whole milk (the kind our pediatrician recommended) in his sippy cup and put it in the microwave for about 8 seconds to take the "chill" off and he loved it from the start. I guess we were very lucky. But, by then, he was also almost completely off of baby food. He rejected baby food at a very young age and was eating pretty much whatever the rest of us were eating. Good luck! And finally being able to pass those formula aisles is the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!! =0)

You really don't need cow's milk at all. It's mucus forming and constipating for many people. If your little one has that problem now, she will more than likely have that problem if you switch to cow's milk. I use a variety of milks in our house. We have 4 children and they drink almond milk and soy milk. I only have one that uses cow's milk because he wants milk and doesn't like the other milk. You can get good fat from so many other sources. As far as calcium, same thing. I actually have to give my one child that drinks cow's milk, a calcium supplement...ironic huh. Not to me.

When I nursed my little ones, I had to stay away from cow dairy because they would have problems with it. There are many people whose children have problems with cow's milk but don't know it. You already know the signs with this sweet little one that you have. Good luck!

My daughter was on Simalic Sensative up until about 10 1/2 months when she started to reject baby food I started her on Whole milk. I mixed half formula and half milk for a week. I noticed that she seemed a little constipated so I completely did away with formula. She is now 13 months old and drinking milk like it is going out of style.
