Switching to Cloth Diapers for Sensitive Skin

I am in the process of switching over to cloth diapers and need some advice from those more experienced. I have a son with severe eczema and need 90-100% cotton. I started with the bum genius but was disappointed to find that they are mostly polyester. Fortunately they work for my older son, but I am having issues getting them clean. I picked detergent based on the suggestions that came with them but they still stink. So my questions are.... what diapers would you suggest that are cotton and easy to clean? Have you tried snappies and do they work? Where do you get your diapers?
THANKS!

What can I do next?

I use unbleached Chinese prefolds w/ Bummis Super Whisper Wraps and I always order from www.cottonbabies.com. Their customer service is great and their prices & shipping costs are very reasonable. I also use Snappies and they are GREAT! No worrying about poking my daughter with pins. I wouldn't go w/o a Snappi because if you just tri-fold the diaper, the poo can very easily spray out the sides. I've NEVER had that problem when doing an angel fold & using a Snappi. As far as odor goes, just use BioKleen Bac Out like others have mentioned. Sometimes I wash them twice in a row using the sanitize cycle on my washer which also really helps.

I use 'the natural life store' for diaper products. It is a home based company in Coon Rapids. Look it up-they have a website. Prices are great and the owner is really nice. She will even let you come over to her house to see different diapers if you need to. Good Luck with this!
In regards to your sons eczema have you had him tested for allergies or food sensitivities? My neighbor's little guy was having the same problem and it was totally food related!

I used unbleached cotton prefolds that I bought at Peapods in St. Paul (make sure you wash and dry them 5 times before using in order to fluff the fibers for absorbency). I washed then in a little bit of Bio-Kleen powdered detergent, used a little vinegar once in awhile, and if the diaper covers got a little smelly I used a little Bio-Kleen Bac-Out in a rinse cycle. I second the people who mentioned food allergies or sensitivities causing the eczema. Traditional Western medicine isn't very good at identifying those types of problems so you might want to research a good alternative/holistic medicine person who specializes in identifying dietary issues. Good luck with everything.

I would suggest prefolds and wool. Wool is a natural fiber that breathes better than the polyester covers that a lot of people use (me included). I love wool. You only have to wash once a week, if that, and it never leaks. I use the Cloth-eez prefolds from www.greenmountaindiapers.com and they're great (I also get my Snappis there). I used pins when I started but now I use a Snappi because my boys are super skinny and I can get a tighter fit with the Snappi. I just use regular Tide to wash my diapers. Not quite to the 1 line. Use a lot of water and not a lot of detergent and you shouldn't have any stink issues. If you are worried about keeping the diapers clean you can use a liner (either flushable or reuseable).

It's early and that's all I can think of right now. I'll come back if I think of anything else. Or if you have any other questions feel free to pm me :o)
