Swimsuit Shopping

Okay Mamas...so the last time I purchased a swimsuit, I wasn't a Mama. So, it's been at least 8 years ago. Where is a good place to shop for one that is reasonably priced and will look good? For my Class Reunion this Summer, we are going to a small town water park and I haven't seen most of these people for about 20 yrs. I want to look great! Thanks for your help...

What can I do next?

Lands End has nice suits, good quality, and a wide array of sizes that include bra sizes, for a really good fit. And check out the Overstocks for some great bargains on swimsuits!

That's funny that Lee P. said Land's End. That was the first thing I thought of even before reading her reply! You can either get suits online or sometimes there's a "Land's End" store at your local Sears where you can actually try on suits. Also, I like MiracleSuit (I think most dept. stores carry them) for their tummy slimming effects. My fav suit, which I've had for about 5 years now is a tankini made by Janzen. It still fits great and looks new, and I've worn it A LOT! Target carries swimsuits, but for the most part, they're pretty low quality (you get what you pay for). If you have a great bod and low budget, that's where I'd go first...you'll probably find something fun and inexpensive there. Have fun swimsuit shopping!

I think Ann Cole and Gottex have great figure flattering one piece bathing suits that have great tummy control panels without looking like you are wearing a corset. They are a little pricey ($100- $120) but if you have not seen your classmates in years, and want to look great... I would splurge. I bought a black Gottex and a red Ann Cole suit about 5 years ago. I have worn them at least 40 times each... they still look brand new. They fit wonderful look great and are comfortable.

Eddie Bauer, my personal favorite, classy grown-up clothes, but not too dowdy!

I found some cute (some pricey) at Just Add Water in the mall. I don't know if you have one of these stores in your location but they have a large selection with mix and match pieces. I love that store!

Lands End! You can try them on & buy at Sears!

I recommend Ross Dress for Less. I have found some really nice swimsuits for UNDER $30. My favorite style one-piece was just $15, and it really enhanced my positives, and minimized my negatives. Of course, I'm a pragmatist; going through a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy and enduring a foreclosure/short sale of our former home in Sandy, so I REFUSE to patronize ANY store that takes advantage of me and rapes my wallet needlessly!
