Heck no, I'd go!! Just make sure you drink plenty of liquids, and use your sun screen!! And if you have little ones, you probably can't stay for very long. Have fun!

It's never too hot to swim. That's why (in California, anyway), anytime it's over 100* they open public pools free of charge, so people can safely cool themselves off. It's a great way to bring your core body temperature down a little bit.

I'm not sure what you mean by "too hot to swim" - are you talking about over heating? Personally, it's too hot to swim for me. The last time I took the kids, I was miserable because the water was just too hot.

Our pools are very warm right now. It's not like AZ or Cal. Where it cools off at night. It's still hot at 10:00 at night it can still be in the upper nineties late at night.

I understand your question! I'm here in Texas with you and know what you are mean. We have not gone to the water park several times this summer because it was too hot to swim! It was 110 and 108 on those days. Of course the heat index was at least 5 degrees or more! It actually is too hot to swim at our neighborhood pool. The water is not cool and refreshing. It is about 95 degrees IN the water. It feels like a hot tub not a pool. It does not cool you off to be in it! The water park on the other hand is moving water as in waterfalls and stuff so it stays cooler. They have also dumped 2000 lbs of ice in the wave pool to try and cool it off! You have to slather the sunscreen and often. When you get out of the water to reapply the sunscreen and get a snack and drink, you have to be in the shade and not the sun! Also, it is very important in this kind of heat here in Texas that you drink drink drink. Kids don't think they need to drink and don't feel thirsty because they are in the water. This heat will dehydrate you fast and I make my kid drink every time she gets out of the water wether she wants to or not!

I never thought I would see the day when it was too hot to swim, but apparently pigs CAN fly! It is just too hot. The water is not cool at all. All the neighborhood pools have been empty all summer long. We have a pool that is in the shade half the day and it is still too hot to swim. It is so dissappointing to have to stay inside all the time, but this summer has been one for the record books. The water temps have been up to 100 degrees at times! Hopefully, we'll get a break this fall and have some pool time before the cold sets in. I miss my "happy place" - my floatie chair and a cherry limeade.

It will depend on the pool - if it is shaded and large enough, the water may still be cool enough to swim. The Plano public pools were telling people to drink water and to go inside from time to time. We just have a little kiddie pool, so it is refilled each time we use it - but even that water is very warm, so it's not as much fun anymore.

For those not in the area, this is a legitimate question around here. We have been breaking records for heat all summer, and one record is for the highest low temps ever recorded in this area. It is still in the mid-80's at night - and has been all summer, so pools do not cool down. The water is more like the temp of bath water than pool water, so it doesn't cool the body like it normally would.

We have a swimming pool and it has never been too hot to swim. It cools you down and if you're lucky enough to have a little wind blowing you are actually a bit cold when you step out of the pool.

We've gone swimming nearly every day, even when it was 107. As long as the pool is big enough so that the water is somewhat cool, its fine, and a good way to be outside and work off energy.

It's never too hot to swim! That's the point of the swimming pool!

Here in AZ that is the only thing to do when its hot, other than staying inside all summer. I am sitting outside right now watching my kids swim while I browse mamapedia.

Just curious, what would make you ask this question, seems like a no-brainer to me :)

I live here, and have lived here my whole life, and I also think it's a bit of an oxymoron- too hot to swim. That said, yes the water in the day may be warm and not very refreshing, but the biggest issue is LOTS of sunscreen, and try to take some breaks in the shade if possible, and drink lots of water. Sometimes you just HAVE to get out of the house and do something, and swimming is the only good option in this heat.

We do in and out swimming. In for a few and then out in the breeze to cool off. The water is hot, almost too hot, but we have been lucky to have a little breeze and it is refreshing to be wet and outside in the air. Bring lots of liquids, we bring fruit in the cooler also.

Just make sure they have on plenty of sunscreen, it is hot but if they are in the water their core is staying cool and it will help them be cool later.

IS there such a thing as too hot to swim???
