Swim Trunks for 2 Year Old
Hi! I have signed my 22 month old son for swim lessons. Also, we will be traveling to the Dominican Republic in May for a wedding. I was just wondering what type of swim trunks are the best? Are the trunks with a swim diaper inside (iPlay) any good? Or should I just stick to plain trunks with a swim diaper? And here's another problem I am facing: I do not know how to swim. Anyone have any great experiences with adult swimming classes on the North Side that they could tell me about?

There is a nice swim instructor named Sue at the Irving Park YMCA near Irving and Pulaski on the North Side. I don't know if you have to be a member to take the lessons, but I don't think so. Good luck and have a safe trip!

Hi S.,
My son (now 4 and a half) has been swimming since he was 9 months old. I always used the disposable swim diapers (even the generic ones are fine) and bought inexpensive trunks at Old Navy. I did see that Gymboree already has a nice selection of swim trunks on the racks. As far as actually being in the water goes, I would recommend a swim vest for your little one (for vacation) and a flotation belt might be good for you. My son's lessons are at the Y and we have been very happy. I am sure all Y locations offer adult lessons. Have fun on your trip!
