Does anyone know of any kind of infant/toddler swim classes in the Overland Park area? If so what are the costs? My daughter will be 2 1/2 this summer and my son will be 1 1/2 and I would like to enroll them in some type of swimming program. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

I was going to suggest the OP pools too, but I think they have to be 3 to move from the parent tot class --and with two you might have a tough time if you have to be with both of them in the water.

(Sometimes you can get them to be a bit flexible with one who is too young ---if they have some skill...I had a 3 year old who took 1st wave b/c she was already swimming--but only certain pool employees can enter those exceptions.)

The local YMCAs have great swimming classes, usually 6 weeks long. My son was enrolled last year when he was slightly older than one year and we enrolled him again this year as well. These classes are also year round since many facilities have indoor pools. You don't have to be a member either to join. You can check them out online at http://www.ymca-kc.org/.

try elite gymnastics and aquatics its on 108th and Pflumm. they have classes all year and they keep the water temp. at 90. Its like a big bath tub. they have only 4 kids in with one teacher and it was 40.00 for a months worth of classes.

Hi J.. We always do the Optimist Club swim program. They usually have it at the junior high at 133rd and Pflumm but one year it was at the junior high off 143rd and Blackbob so don't know if they rotate it each year. They have several different times but for the parent/tot class, there is usally one session in the morning and one in the evening. It runs M-Th for 2 weeks.

All the Overland Park pools do swimming lessons in the summer for around 35.00 for 9 lessons. Just go to the cities website, http://www.opkansas.org/index.cfm and look for information on swimming lessons. I also go to a local gym off of 87th and 69 Hwy called Dale's Athletic Club, they have an indoor pool and do lessons for all ages, they are more expensive at around $66.00 for 8 classes, but are good for cold weather lessons. Their website is http://www.dalesathleticclub.com/

My daughter is 6 1/2 and we've been doing lessons at both places since she was about 3 and they are both excellent.

Good luck!
