it's not in your area but the canyon school in el-sborante is great. it's probably 7 miles or so from orinda up the dam rd.

If you really want to stay in Moraga/Orinda, you should consider the lessons at the Soda Center at Campolindo High School in Moraga. They are offered on the weekends throughout most of the year. I have friends that have done lessons with their kids there and have good things to say about it. I know some people also like Sherman Swim School in Lafayette.

I am having my daughter do lessons at Harriet Plummer in Lafayette. After just one full week of lessons there, she was doing more than I have ever been able to get her to do in our own pool during the last two summers. I have been really happy with her experience there and plan to have her do more lessons. During the school year, you can do one day per week or lessons every day Mon-Thurs. within the same week But in the summer, they don't offer the once/week option so scheduling can be a bit hard.

I would also recommend the swimming lessons at Campolindo High School in Moraga (the Soda Aquatic Center.) My son has taken lessons there for years. The instructors are patient and excellent.

My kids took the lessons at the Soda Center (the Acalanes school district runs them - this is the spring schedule, summer one hasn't been posted yet:
http://www.acalanes.k12.ca.us/aquatics/sodacenter/classes... ) and enjoyed them, they have a good student/teacher ratio. Haven't tried any of the other swim schools but have heard good things about Sherman Swim School. I think the local swim clubs also offer lessons to non-members but the prices are higher than for members.
