Swim Lessons

The Palos Health and Fitness Center in Orland Park (153rd and West Avenue) offers great classes for Moms and Tots as well as swim lessons. I've heard great things about the swim/aqua teachers. The emphasis is always on health and well-being at PHFC. Their number is ###-###-####.

I live in Palos Hills and my son is 10 months and started swim lessons about a month and a half ago. Many of the park districts in our area only have summer lessons because they use an outside pool. The only highschool I found was Richards that have lessons for kids 0-3 yrs. It was through Oak Lawn park district. I also heard from soemone who went to those lessons that it is bascially just time in the water for acclimation with your child. I currently go to Bolingbrook Park district and I can not say enough how wonderful it is. They have developed a curriculum and it is explained to you when you start what will be happening at every session until it ends. I love it and feel so safe. My son is already going under water and is very comfortable. It is not close, but definitely worth it in my opinion. They also have saturday classes, so my husband could attend. Palos Health and fitness did not, at least at the time I signed up. Good luck!

I cannot say enough good things about Life Time Fitness in Orland!

Carl Sandburg High School just remodeled the swimming pool. It is a great indoor facility. My kids have been going there for years for swim lessions. I highly recommend them.

Hi--You should contact Sandburg High School in Orland Park they have a swim program starting at the end of May. There is also a program thru the Oak Lawn Park District--that is a parent and tot program.
