I stay home with my 4 1/2 month old daughter during the day and don't have friends with kids and my family lives far away. I would love to get together with other moms just to have some adult conversation and have a reason to leave the house sometimes. :)I find the only thing I can do is go to the mall or Marshalls and then I end up spending money- which is a bad habit to get into. Let me know.

What can I do next?

Hi M., I live in Lynn and am home with my son, 5 1/2 months - on fridays. Let me know if you would like to get together sometime, perhaps we can meet on the waterfront in lynn/swampscott and go for a stroll. we usually park and walk towards nahant, but can certainly meet anywhere around there. Just let me know what would be best. I also feel like i need to get out there and meet some new friends with babies! Let me know. A.

When my son was an infant, we joined the mother's group at Beverly Hospital. It is free to go for your first session and $5 a week thereafter. It's a great way to meet local moms in the area (many were from Marblehead, Swampscott, Lynn, etc.) and had babies the same age. I think the group for babies 4 months-12 months is on Thursdays at 10 am at the Hospital. You could certainly call the Hospital for more info. (They welcome everyone -- you don't have to be tied to the hospital in any way, which is nice.) Also, there is a guy who plays music in South Hamilton (a little drive from Swampscott, I know)for free (although he does like to receive tips since there is no charge and he does it for free). He plays on Friday mornings at 10 am the Hamilton Wenham Community house on RT. 1A. It's fun for the kids (tons of babies are there) and a nice way to get out of the house and meet people. My son is 18 months old and I totally know what you are going through. The mother's group definitely helped me get out and meet some new friends!

Hi M.,

I'm moving to Swampscott next weekend and would like to connect w/ other new moms (or expecting moms) in the area. I'm due w/ my first baby in September and was planning on getting out and walking the beach as much as possible throughout the summer. Let me know if you are interested in meeting up once we're settled in.

I live in Lynn and have been desperately trying to find my SAHD some adult interaction. Although he's not really buying into it. The Lynn Library has some great programs for children from birth up where you could likely meet additional parents who are home with their children.

Check out the calendar at http://www.noblenet.org/lynn/childrens.html

I've particularly enjoyed Mother Goose on the Loose and Story Time.

Hi! I was very excited to read this! I am a new mom to a baby girl, now 9 weeks. I am home for the summer and am looking for moms in the area as I am new to swampscott. I will be returning to work in September; hey, do you know of any decent childcare? I would love to meet!

Meghan,

Hello! I do not live near you, but one suggestion in terms of finding different Moms groups that are happening in your area is to sign up for Yahoo Groups as I am sure there are moms groups going on that you can join. You could also do a search for La Leche League as they always run groups. Usually local libraries do a story hour each week and I have brought my son who is now 10 months but there are plenty of babies there ~and clearly we are all there for connection with other moms when they are this young :-) Your local hospital should also have listings of groups. I felt very similarly when my son was young and then I started doing a little investigating to find different things going on so could get out and meet people. The other thing to look into is taking a class at a place like Gymboree or Isis Maternity. They run age based classes in many cases so you would be able to meet other new moms with little ones that are your baby's age. Hope that this is helpful. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions or just need to connect!
