It helps me if I use warm, not cold water. I also take a few sips of water to wet my mouth and throat, before swallowing the pill.

I still have trouble with pills! Sometimes they come right back up. Good luck!

One of the easiest ways to swallow pills is to - put them in your mouth and take a drink thru a straw. It opens up the back of the throat and you won't gag.

I taught all my kids how to swallow pill with Mini M&Ms. We had the best time pretending they were pills and trying to swallow them without tasting them. Once we mastered it we got to enjoy the rest.

Not sure what you are asking exactly...Everyone can swallow pills, but you develop your own technique for how to minimize the taste, or pills getting stuck in your mouth or throat...you just have to keep doing it and practicing. I have found [and believe me I have swallowed A LOT of pills in my lifetime...vitamins, iron pills since I was 14, acne medication when I was a teen, several overdoses when I was a teen, the years of antidepressants and anxiety meds that followed into my twenties, prenatal vitamins, along with all of the prescriptions for common illnesses] what works best is to set it as far back on your tongue as you can, take a giant sip of juice, keep your lips closed tight but keep your jaw open and tongue down to hold the liquid in the front of your mouth and then swallow it all immediately. Guzzle down the rest of the glass to make sure it goes down all the way and then eat something small like a slice of bread or crackers with peanut butter spread on them. That's all I've got! Definitely don't put pills into food or grind them up to put in anything...Yuck.
[I say juice because with milk or water you get a worse taste in my opinion, and with soda it seems to be a lot harder to take a big gulp and also you feel it more going down. Juice is smooth and easy to gulp but still has a strong taste to mask the taste of the pill. Bitter drinks like juices make you produce saliva which will help with getting rid of the taste]....hope that helps?

When I first started swallowing pills (about 10 years old) I used soda pop. It made the pill float so I wouldn't taste it.

Then I found that chocolate milk worked even better! Because it's thicker, you don't even notice you threw the pill in.

What I did (and still do to my husbands entertainment....although now I use water) is put a small amount of liquid in my mouth--don't swallow yet--, tip my head up, throw the pill in and swig another drink and tip my head back a little and swallow. Then you don't taste the pill. When I have to take pills, I usually only take 1 pill at a time this way. But it works!

I have trouble swallowing pills... I can do the small Advil kind with hardly any issues but anything bigger and it gets stuck which makes me gag.

With the smaller ones I set them as far back on my tongue as I can then take a huge gulp of water... followed by many small ones to flush all the way down my throat.

With the bigger ones I ask my doctor if it is ok to split the pill, they make these little pill splitters. Some pills you only need to take half of so that is originally what the splitter is for but I use it to make a big pill smaller so it is more manageable for me (I still take the whole pill it just is in 2 pieces). This can not be done with all kids of pills so I always ask my doctor if I can and if I can't split if there is something else I could take that can be split.

I used to have the exact same problem. I even went to a hypnotist to try to make it possible for me to swallow pills. After trying different things time and time again, someone suggested whole milk chocolate milk. I tried it, and it worked like a charm. It is so thick that you dont even feel it going down. Practice first with choc. milk and something really little, like the size of a birth control pill. Good luck! I know how frusterating it is!

I do the same thing as Miranda, but just use water. Sometimes I almost have to gag it down, but it does go down that way.
