Hi - I'm thinking about getting lasik eye surgery. Can anyone recommend a surgeon that they really trust? I live in Hinsdale, but I would be willing to drive up to about 15-20 miles for the right doctor.
Thanks,
B.

I too had the same dreams!

I went to:

Laser Center: TLC Laser Eye Centers - Chicagoland
Address:4 Westbrook Corp. Ctr., Suite 111
Westchester, IL 60154
1-866-325-2020

They were great and it has been wonderful to see again. I hadn't seen that well since 3rd grade!

Good luck! You won't regret it!

Feel free to message me with any other questions.

I had lasik eye surgery at TLC. I did some shopping before decided on them. I went to the Westechester location. It has been a little over a month and I can't be happier with my results. They are very friendly and professional. Good luck.

B., I had researched a lot of companies and ended up going with TLC (Dr. Probst). After I had decided on TLC, and started talking to others, I found 9 other people here at work who had surgery thru them as well. He was doing Lasik in Canada before it even became legal here in the states. They have the most updated equipment and even tho they may be on the expensive side, you don't want to skimp on the price. My eye doctor (outside of TLC) originally wanted me to go to Kraft, but after I told him that I would rather go to TLC, he did his own research and now only refers his patients to TLC. I still have to see my eye doctor once a year for an exam and he is aways amazed that he can't even see the incision (back then, they lifted the skin on the eye) - I don't think they do that anymore. I had mine done almost 8 years ago.

Their number is ###-###-#### and they are located in West Chester SW corner of Cermak and Wolff road.

Oh, and it was painless - the worst part of it was thinking about it prior to having it done. I have life time tweaking - if needed, but so far, my eyes are still 20/20.

If your doctor doesn't refer to TLC, you may want to find another doctor (I feel they get kickbacks for referring - not confirmed tho). Like I said, my doctor wasn't affiliated with TLC, and then had to in order for the referal to take place.

I had a friend who went down town had got his down. they gave him an extra $100.00 off if he was willing to do it near the window so that people walking past can see it done. That was much cheaper too, but for me, I just didn't feel comfortable with the whole idea behind that center.

If you are worried about it, TLC, will allow you to watch (via tv screne) a proceedure. I personally couldn't watch the video or the tv screne prior to having mine done. I don't like pain (not even a shot, ironically, having the surgery was less painful than getting a shot).

The staff is wonderful too.

I had the option of having one eye weaker than the other to off set the timing of having to need reading glasses, so one eye of mine is not perfect, but that was my decision. So, if you go to them, make sure you ask them about that. :)

Good luck.
