I have two sons one is 7 and he is a very bad Asmatic and one is 9 with Tourettes and ADHD... It is getting so overwhelming for me I do not no what to do. I feel like I can't handle it anymore... Why do these things have to happen to our children. Life is difficult enough. To top it all off, you have people in this world that need to add unnecessary stress to our life, just because they have nothing better to do in their life. I need god more then ever. Help.

That sounds rough, K.! I have one child. she is 15 years old with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism), ADHD, OCD, and ODD. It is tough! She just went to a new psychiatrist today and we are now tweaking her meds. She also is going to group therapy once a week. It is very stressful with all the running around. Not to mention my own health concerns.

i don't know much about your faith...i.e. what you believe, but seeing as how you say you need God more than ever, then i suggest that you pray and ask God for his help and guidance. while you are praying though, seek out family or friends who would be willing to help you...you didn't mention the father..is he around? i am sure that your boys are wonderful, and as a mom you need a break. sometimes the best children can wear on your last nerve. if friends and family aren't available, then i would suggest you ask your pediatrician for names of support groups where you can take your 9 year old, and groups where you can talk to other parents of children with severe asthma. although it might not seem like it now, things WILL work out for you and your family. i will keep you in my prayers.

K.,
My heart goes out to you. Stay strong yor children need their Mommy!!!!
I have had asthma since childhhos, I have been on every medication known to man. I have suffered all the side effects it is horrible. I finally found the answer....I went for accupuncture and am now on NO MEDICATIONS at all!! I had decided to try it just to see and am amazed to be able to breathe properly for the first time since I can remember. Accupuncture has also been know to help with both ADHD and Touretts. It's non invasive, almost completely painless and certainly worth a try!!!
Make sure you research the person. I use someone who is a chiropractor/ accupuncture/ RN. She has a wealth of knowledge. If you are in western Suffolk County in NY I am happy to get her info to you!
Good luck!

K. - Hang in there. I know easy for someone else to say but know that here is where you can vent and lean and we'll be here for you.
I have a quote that I refer to in hard times I hope it helps a little (if nothing more than to put a smile on your face) "I know God won't give me anything I can't handle...I just wish he didn't trust me so much" ~ Mother Theresa.

I have asthma. What has miraculously helped me is EMERGEN-C. It is a vitamin packet with 1000 mg of vit c. Vitamin C is a natural antihistamine. I hardly take medicine anymore. But asthma is deadly so you must keep your meds on hand at all times. I am going to try alternative medicine as well as I hear really good things about it.
Good luck,
A.

You're absolutely right you need GOD more than ever; but also He's there and not giving you more than He knows you can handle... even though sometimes you think it is. I've been through both- not exactly the same way. My son was a terrible asthmatic. We lived in the hospital every other weekend since he was 9mos. (Turned blue 2x). Prayer WORKS! He is 20yrs. old (6ft 8 & approx 350lbs. solid) and breathing well. Take each day 1 at a time- and be your child's advocate. What I mean is learn what medicines do and you make the choices. P.S.- Jello, Black coffee, a lil' Coca-Cola help. As for Tourettes, a young lady worked for me that had a severe case. I don't know the extent of your child's condition, but she verbalized with cursing and racial slurs, and physical twitches. It was difficult but you have to trust it'll be ok. It takes extra energy but I would take a moment to educate those around me that seem taken back. I think it may give you some strength to feel that empowerment. Be strong & grateful... and always Be blessed!
