Sunscreen That Won't Burn My Daughter's Eyes
Can anyone recommend a sunscreen that won't burn my daughter's eyes? We've tried Water babies (the worst!), Baby Blanket and Aveeno. I also try to use a sunscreen stick instead of lotion on her face. The problem is that she often rubs her eyes after I've applied sunscreen so then she cries because it burns, even though all claim to be gentle on eyes. Any other recommendations?

Avoid sunscreen on her hands and eye area. I like California baby sun stick. Have you tried a translucent mineral sunscreen powder? That's the safest thing for babies, I think.

I agree that water babies is the worst! I use copportone sport and it is WAY better (even though both are made by coppertone). I haven't tried any of the more organic options. Also, while I like the stick, I feel the lotion is absorbed better and less likely to get rubbed in later.

HI K. - I have a 10-month-old boy and had the same problem. My sister introduced me to Arbonne's Sunscreen for Babies (SPF 30) - it is paraben and chemical free, botanically based, and formulated for sensitive skin. I actually loved Arbonne's baby line (and anti-aging line for women) so much I joined as an Arbonne consultant. You can visit my website to see more about the product: amyn.myarbonne.com (then click on shop online and click on ABC Arbonne Baby Line). All products have a 45-day money back guarantee. You can contact me directly if you're interested in ordering - hope this helps! ____@____.com

We had the same problem and tried just about every sunscreen under the sun until we found Blue lizard austrailian sunscreen. It's 30 spf and says for baby and senstive skin, it works great. It has a pink top and the bottle turns pink when exposed to uv light.Kind of nice reminder to apply. Hope this helps. OH sometimes its hard to find, but latley I have seen it at wegmans and sometimes rite aid carries it. Good luck

I have the very sensitive skin and have always been careful with my kids. I started using Blue Lizard for Baby and Blue Lizard for Sensitive and have been extremely happy! Even I use it now because it is the only one that doesn't ever burn my skin. It can be hard to fins but I get mine at Wegman's and I think some pharmacies carry it. Good luck!

K.-
Your daughter is most likely reacting to the one of the many irritating/toxic chemicals in the sunscreens. Please visit my site www.beauty-with-integrity.com and go to LINKS & ARTICLES and read "The Truth About Sunscreen". This article comprises more than 10 hours of research on the subject. The only truly safe sunscreen is Zinc Oxide--no-coated and non-nanosized. My site is the result of almost 2 years of research in to the chemicals in our beauty products and offers truly non-toxic alternatives. I did this for myself and my children and then decided to take the info to the public so that all mothers could get this important info. Dont believe all you read---companies are always trying to manipulate us with words and false statements.
I hope you will take a few minutes to check out my site--I know you will find it very educational. I hope you will consider trying my products as well, but the info you need is there. Please let me know what you think of the site.
Thanks

Hi K.,
I haven't come across any that are burn free, but the simple answer (other than teaching her not to rub, or letting her push gently with a dry wash cloth after you apply until the urge is gone) is to be very careful what you put on her hands. She may be rubbing what's on her hands into her eyes. Maybe leave her hands free of anything until she's done what she needs to to her eyes, and then maybe use the stic, just on the backs of her hands. When my kids were babies, I didn't sunscreen their hands at all for just that reason, but at 2 she needs it b/c she's out more. You'll find what works for you! Good luck!
