Sunscreen for 1 Yr Old

I just was at the doc office discussing our summer vacation trip and what to use on my 9 month old son (he will be 11 months during vacation) She told me not to use anything over 30 SPF becuase studies have been found that SPF can cause different kinds of cancer. She told me to use UVA and UVB protectant. She also said that they have SPF clothing you can get at REI, and I have found some on Amazon.com. HOpe this helps!
YOu may wnat to call you doc's office and get thier opinion also.

I have 4 daughters from the Age of 24 to 6....I have ALWAYS used Neutrogena Sun Screen and believe me I tried all of the "kiddie" stuff....I always put it on them 1 hr before leaving the house and it usually never needed to be reapplied. It is awesome stuff! Make sure you get the 'no sweat" product and non greasy formulas! Have fun this summer

I use Banana Boat SPF 50 on my 17 month old son. It worked really well last summer when we started going to the pool at 6 months. It is waterproof and didn't seem to bother his skin. Plus, I love the Banana Boat smell!

Water babies has a awesome roll on type for the face, it so the sunscreen dosen't run in their eyes ,you can use it all over or they have other waterbabies lotions but definetely the one for the face. Good luck

We use Arbonne these days and it is great. my son and I (both olive complexions) broke out using other brands. I would assume Burts Bees or any other product that doesn't contain all the "stuff" would work great!

Neutrogena makes a sunblock that is spf 70 and 85. I have used this on my daughter for the last two summers. We went boating several times where we were on the lake the entire day and we never had a sunburn. Last summer we switched to the Neutrogena sunblock spray for boating, just b/c it absorbs so much faster. She has pretty sensitive skin and these never caused her to break out. It is a little pricey (about $10 a tube) but it seems worth it to me.

I always used the pink bottle with the little girl on it and the puppy pulling on her pants. lol sorry don't remember the name that's been awhile ago. But my kids never got burned...ever.

We had great luck with Aveeno baby sunscreen. Our son has reddish hair and very fair skin and he never got the slightest amount of sun that we could see. It also didn't seem to ever bother him as far as sensitivity to ingredients.

My girls and I are all fair skinned and red headed, and the best sunblock on the planet is Water Babies SPF30 by Coppertone. It is not greasy, it won't hurt the baby (I was putting it on my twins when they were 3 months old), it won't stain clothing, and it's waterproof for up to 2 hours. I have used it on myself for years, and I use it on my girls every time we get out in the sun. You can buy it in regular lotion form or in a spray which is really cool. It's in a pink bottle. I've used the Aveeno and the Arbonne and both work excellently but are more expensive. Water Babies (the pink bottle with the girl and puppy that someone else mentioned) works every bit as well is readily available at any store and is more afordable. I have bottles in multiple locations so it is always handy. Plus I buy the spray on kind because it is the easiest to apply and rub in. You can't just spray it on....must rub it in. Oh and my daughter has very fair skin (blonde/blue eyes like dad) and this works great for her.

Hi Shelly, just some quick advice. Don't buy Baby Disney sunscreen. It's like water and it's so hard to rub in all the way. Also, my daughter was one last year and we put it on her to go to the pool,it accidently got into her eyes and she cried and cried,her eyes got puffy and I had to run her to the doc's office. Just my opinion, I wouldnt buy it again. I like the stick-rub on.

I love the spray on kind! It works just as well and it's so much easier to get on, especially when they're wiggly and anxious to play outside! You have to rub it in some, but it's not as labor intesive as the regular kind! Also, remember to put sunscreen on about 20-30 mins prior to going outside/in the water. I used Aveeno as well, but didn't like it. It worked fine but it was hard to rub in and it took a long time! I guess I'm always in a hurry, but that's just something to think about! Oh, and Target usually sells a few items of SPF clothing too.

Blue Lizard is supposed to be safest.

It's been too many years since my baby was a baby and we didn't know to use sun screen so much back then. But, we have a pool and other families come to swim. I keep Burt's Bees sunscreen on hand for everyone. There are many things in most skin products that shouldn't be put on the skin - some because they suffocate the skin and some because they can be absorbed by the skin (especailly baby skin)and are toxic. Burt's Bees entire line of products never uses any of those.

Keep in mind that a baby's eyes need to be protected too. I wish they would come out with effective and comfortable sun glasses for babies - maybe something like a soft/stretchy thin material head-band with lenses sown in.

I still think it is important to keep them largely in the shade the first year or two. Bring a big umbrella and seek shady places. You can be outdoors without being in full sun most of the time, accept when in the water, of course.

My daughter will be 2 next week, but last summer (& during our Christmas beach vacation) I used Walgreen's brand kids' sunscreen. Reasonable in price and it worked great. She is skin sensitive, but I had no problem with it on her.

I don't have a sun block to reccomend, but just wanted to add that you should use a lip balm with sunblock and also try and get her to wear a big floppy hat = )
They have some at Target ( last year) that strapped under the chin = )

I use Melaleuca for everything now, I only trust their brand name with babies.
I have been a customer for over 4 years now, I don't like doing the business but their products are really amazing. I started with a few products and now I use everything I can from them, it is the best quality at a better price and I know there are no harsh chemicals on anything they sell.
