Sun Screen for Eczema

My 9 month old has eczema, and I want to know if anyone has found a sunscreen that will not irritate the condition. I have already tried Aveno, but it made him break out really bad over the weekend. I want to give him the opportunity to enjoy going outside, and still protect him from the sun's damage.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

It turns out that my son did not have an outbreak of eczema...he had a fungal infection. For those who may be like me and your child has a large outbreak on their skin, it is best to check with your pediatrician to make sure you are treating the actual cause. This would have saved my son a week of red, irritated skin; and saved me from having to try to find unnecessary solutions to the wrong problem. Don't be afraid to seek medical advice first!!!!

R.,
My one year old little boy has eczema really bad and my peds doc just told me that lubraderm (not sure how to spell it) makes a lotion with an spf 15 in it and that it would be my best bet to try, all the other sun protectors caused his eczema to turn bright red and become more irritated. I hope this helps!

Vanacream sunscreen is chemical free and works great for people with eczema. Its a little pricey, but worth it. Available at Target, if you can't find it, sometimes the pharmacist have in available over the counter. But any Organic, chemical free product should work. Good Luck!

Hi R.. DEFINITELY try Arbonne's Baby Care Sunscreen! It's awesome. It works so well for babies (and adults) with eczema. I'd be happy to send you a sample if you'd like. Just let me know. Good luck!

Hi R.- My son has "patch eczema" and we use the waterbabies brand (says its a senstive as plain water...) We have had no issues. However, my son can break out on cheeks and by his ears from just the heat. I keep a can of evian vapor water spray (found at beauty product stores like Ulta) to spray him and keep his skin cooler. Good luck!!
