Sun Protection Advice Needed
Hey Mamas,
I wanted to get some advice on the best sunscreen for a 6month old- there are tons of different brands- any you guys would recommend? I bought a sun shirt for him and swim trunks and a sun hat and we are going to FL and it will be crazy hot there of course. I'm a first time mom and I just want to make sure he is protected with the best product, thanks!

My baby had an extremely sensitive skin, always irritated by sun and warm, I tried a lot of different sunscreens and found a great one that works perfectly. It is California Baby Spf 30. It is natural without harmful chemicals. I bought it at Whole Foods store, was quite expensive, 15$, but it was worth it.
Have fun!

Hi D.. I am sure that you have recieved a million responses but I wanted to add my 2 cents. I sell all natural skin care products and know a ton about sun protection. I have a 20 week old little girl and a 2nd home in Florida so I have already experienced the sun exposure dilemna. If you would like info on the product feel free to call me at ###-###-####.

Hi D.,
My daughter was 6 months last summer and I had the same questions. I ended up using Waterbabies Spray and Baby Blanket creme...both are available at Babies R Us and worked great...I like the spray especially b/c it was easy to distribute. Good luck!

I always use a waterproof children's formula that is spf 50. Just so you know my pediatrician told me NO direct sunlight until one years old.

We've been using Coppertone's Water Babies. It goes on like a nice lotion, instead of greasy and weirdly opalescent like some of them do. Has an SPF as high as 50. My pediatrician recommended it - and it got an excellent review in Consumer Reports. I looked in CR again to see an updated list but the list I'd used a couple of years ago was gone. My friend (who is also a pediatrician) likes and uses the Water Babies stuff too.
Before you buy one, test it on your skin to make sure it's not the stuff that goes on greasy & slightly opalescent and opaque - it feels weird and is difficult to rub on their skin, I've found.
Have fun in Florida!

We use Mustela product as they are very mild on babies skin. We are very happy with it.
Here is the link to Mustela site:

I got it in Marshall fields and I've seen it in Babies R Us.
