Hi Moms does anyone have any vacation ideas for a family of 4 with teenagers 14 and 16 that we could all enjoy. We have done the Mexico trip and Montana stuff, is there anything different? We were kinda thinking about Nashville, TN. Has anyone been there and have any advice? Or anywhere else, we are open to new ideas? Thank you in advance for all your ideas. I love this site, it's so helpful even just hearing others going through the same things we all are going through, God bless you.

What can I do next?

We love Ft Walton Beach/Destin Florida. The beach is beautiful. Also, Red River New Mexico...

Hope you have a good time wherever you choose.

I would suggest a cruise. There is something to entertain everyone on a cruise and yall can spend time together and doing your own thing.

I'm not quite sure how much there would be to do in Nashville. It's just another big city like what we have here except they have a Country Music Hall of Fame museum that is really nice. I'm a big fan of going to the beach. Good luck!

Here are a few to think about:

Hilton Head, SC
Destin, FL
Gulf Shores, AL
Panama City Beach, FL

We are going on a cruise. Carnival has been running specials for on-board credit with some of their cruises. I am so excited about ours.. but for some cruises, you will need passports. For our family of 4 our passports were about $300 and we got them in less than a month.

Lots of airlines.. Southwest & Airtran have some great specials right now. Check Travelocity for their packages because sometimes they will have good deals. Good luck.

Nashville was a pretty city. We did not spend an extended period of time there, but there should be plenty of stuff to do. Lynchburg, TN, where they make Jack Daniel's is about 75 miles away. They have a tour and a really neat visitor's center. The town is very small (and dry - no alcohol sales there), but was very pretty when we went in the fall. They had a park and the drive was pretty.
Colorado has some beautiful destinations with hiking, rafting, etc. We love Silverton and Ouray. Telluride is also very neat. They have multiple cable lifts that you can ride for free.
Port Aransas is great. We go there almost every year. There are fishing, swimming and beach activities. The beach in Padre is a little bit more powdery and there are more beach front hotels. If you go to Port A, Corpus Christi has a nice aquarium and the Lexington tour.
If indoor activities are more your thing, Branson is fun. There is a ton of shopping and restaurants, lots of shows and all of the typical tourist attractions that your teenagers would enjoy.
Smokey Mountain National Park is kind of a combination of the indoors and out. There are lots of shows and shopping, but you can drive up into the mountains and hike as well.
Big Bend National Park in Texas is kind of a unique destination. It can be really hot in the summer, though.
San Antonio has Fiesta Texas and Sea World, which has shows and coasters and other rides that would appeal to older kids. The River Walk has some great restaurants. There are some outlet malls on the way down with great shopping.
You might even try a couple of nights at the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine.

We are planning a trip for next summer to North Carolina. I went there as a child and it was one of my favorite vacations!!! In the latest FamilyFun magazine there is an article about all of the different things to do. I'll just list a few names of places and you can look them up: Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, Hatteras, Wright Brother's Museum, Okracoke, Raleigh.... There is so much to do and see there. Hope you guys have a great vacation wherever you go!!!

I don't know if Branson is your thing, but I can tell you that the area surrounding Branson is really beautiful. There are lots of state parks around there. And, Silver Dollar City is a very cool amusement park that is not like any other I've been to. It is all about the old log-cabin age with lots of country crafts and cool demonstrations. And of course they have rides too. Also up that direction, along I-44 in Missouri, is Meremac Caverns and that is an awesome place for people of any age, especially teenagers too. (And if you decide to go to Nashville, it could be along the route you take to get there). Further up in MO, along I-70, there are lots of wineries (between Columbia and St. Louis).

Also, for your trip, if you decide to stay in hotels, here is a good website for hotel coupons:

Have a great vacation!

If your teens are the active type, I recommend Vail, CO. You can mountain bike down the ski trails and they have a ton of activities with other teens. Also, it's not that big of an area, so you know where they are.
