Hi! My 4-year-old daughter is in camp and I need lunch ideas for her - she doesn't like peanut butter and will only eat a little bit of a ham sandwich. Of course, she'll eat lots of goldfish and other carbs! Any ideas would be appreciated - no microwaveable meals, though!

I was about to post the exact same thing...I am looking for new ideas. We have done...
Peanut butter crackers, string cheese, lunch meat and crackers, and lunchables. I always throw in a juice box, and some fruit too (my son loves the canned mandarin oranges).

Hi J.,

I have a 3 1/2 yr old daughter, and she doesnt' care for PB&J either. She's also not really big on sandwiches.

So, during the school yr, I would pack her some of the following:

M: Turkey rolls w/a slice of American cheese & grapes
T: Ham rolls w/a slice of American cheese & yogurt
W: Rice cakes, American cheese, apple slices, & a yogurt
T: A "Lunchable" ~ Turkey/American Cheese & (2) Oreo cookies
F: Cereal bar, fruit, & a yogurt

That's just a few ideas off the top of my head. I hope it helps!

Good Luck!

I also have a picky eater, and have had to go through trials of what to pack for lunch during the preschool school years. The best thing I came up with is to try and have something fun from each of the food groups. MEAT: Cubed ham, vienna sausages, broken-up pieces bacon... DAIRY: Cubed cheese or mickey mouse cheese, cheese sticks, yogurts... BREAD: Cubed bread, crackers(several diff kinds), cereals... VEGGIES: Broccoli, couliflour, baby carrots, snap peas... FRUIT: Bananas, grapes, apple slices w/caramel dipping sauce, etc. I would also add a juice box that is 100% juice vs. the high in sugar brands. I have found that the more choices of food I have put in the lunchbox, the more that gets in the belly. When all of the choices are healthy, you can't go wrong!

My kids love turkey and cheese rolled up in a tortilla. Or, even just cheese rolled up in the turkey by itself. There are also some pre-cooked chicken nuggets you can buy and can be served at lunch box temperature. Lunchables are always good, and they enjoy the kid-size servings in them.

I have a 12 yr old and she is a great eater and health conscious. She hates sandwiches of any kind unless it is black olives and cheese from quizno's or subway. Of course, it is not practical to send that to school daily.

Like one of the other mom's who posted earlier, I pack lots of healthy choices such as veggies w/ ranch dip, cheese sticks, fruit (canned, fresh or fruit chews, triscuits, She also likes the chocolate horizon soy milk which does not HAVE to be chilled. In the beginning of the school year, she took noodles with marinara sauce daily. I invested in a nice thermos that has worked out well.

Good luck! Susan

My daughter has weekly field trips at her school and I've been sending her w/ lunchables. I put an icepack in her lunch bag and they stay cold until lunch. She loves them!

You might want to try tortilla rollups...just turkey and cheese or ham and cheese rolled up in a tortilla. For some reason, my 3-yr-old likes this better than sandwiches on regular bread.
