Suggestions/options for Long Term Birth Control

We are for sure done with kids now that we had our second little one. My husband is reluctantly willing to get a vacecomy if I decide I don't like the Mirana which I just got. Part of me would like a hormonal BC for a while to lighten up my period but I definately don't want to deal with anything daily.
Just wondering what others have found work well. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks, my husband is willing to get a vacecomy. just not super excited about the idea. I so agree after handling everything including pregnancy and child birth is is time for the men to step up. I think part of him kinda wants another kid but that is just not happening.
I think I am going to give the mirana 6 months or so and see what I think before we make a permanent decision.

A lady I work with tried everything - and still got pregnant - she's super fertile.
So after unplanned child number 4 she got her tubes tied - and that's been working fine for her.
Hubby should get a vasectomy now and not wait to see if/how you like a different birth control method.

My husband had a vasectomy in January and it was a minor thing. Very worth it since I was on the Pill for 20 years and dealt with pregnancies etc. so great to be done with birth control.

i took care of the birth control for two decades (well, and *didn't*, since our first was unplanned), so when we decided we were through, i'm very pleased that my husband stepped up to the plate and took care of business on his end.
at some point i think it's healthy for women to stop faffing about with their hormones.

My husband had a vasectomy but I also got the Mirena for heavy periods. I was becoming anemic so it was a good solution for me.

I haven't had any problems at all while on it. It definitely made my periods much easier (I barely get them).

My husband is the same way. I have a Paragard iud - copper, no hormones. Lasts 10 years. I'm on my second one. Doctor said "Oh, you'll be well into menopause by the time this one is done" - eek!

I'm on my 3rd Mirena. I love it! I haven't had a period in 13 years. I spotted the first 6 months then nothing ever again. My husband also had a vasectomy, I just didn't want anymore periods.

Research the Essure procedure. The doc inserts springs into the tubes that are covered with stuff that will help the surrounding tissue "grow" blockages. They put them in and in a few months they go back in and insert dye into the tubes to see if there are any leaks.

Done. This is permanent birth control though. Less invasive than a tubal but still permanent.

I just had the Essure procedure done, since our family is now complete. It was about 5 minutes, done in my doctor's office with local anesthesia, minimal discomfort that night, and done. It's permanent, so no worries about any .01% chance of pregnancy. Very happy with my choice.

I had Essure done about 3 years ago. Simple, painless, easy, non surgical, and permanent.
No issues with it at all.
Highly recommend!

I love my Mirena. I didn't immediately - I had spotting for a full 3 months after having it inserted. But now I'm on year 5 of minimal-to-no periods and I love it. I will get it replaced with another at my next appointment.

That said - you and your DH may want to reconsider vasectomy in the long run. I know we have discussed it, because at some point I will be peri-menopausal and it might no longer be best for me to have hormonal birth control. But, when perimenopause kicks in, pregnancy is still possible and in order to avoid an unintended pregnancy, it makes the most sense for DH to go for the long-term solution.
