Suggestions on Weightloss

My husband and I have been talking about babies for a little while and his one consistent request is that I'm in shape for the pregnancy. I'm currently about 50-lbs overweight and, because of my history with pregnancy; he wants me to lose it before getting pregnant. Not a bad request, he just wants me to be healthy and have a healthy pregnancy.

My problem is that until a few years ago I never had to worry about my weight. I got a desk job about 5 years ago and gained weight just sitting there with no activity. I'm finding it hard to conform to a diet and workout routine. I've tried Slim Fast *which worked* but they changed their stuff to the Optima and I can't bring myself to drink it anymore. I've done Weight Watchers but it was hard to stay in the points with our active schedules. My son goes to Sylvan every Tuesday and Thursday and has baseball games on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday *each week is different*. I have a membership at Golds Gym and was going to the one on the north east side of town until I lost motivation for that. I know I have to really get my butt in gear to lose the weight. We are talking about getting pregnant within 6 months to a year so I really don't have a lot of time. I need something that's easy to stick with, maybe a buddy system even. I tried that once but my "buddy" was the one not motivated to do the program so I finally got frustrated and quit. I know, how lame, right? It's time for me to really get serious, I just don't know how. Anyone have any suggestions?

What can I do next?

Hi C.,

My name is B. and I just had a baby in Feb. and I also really need to lose some weight! I would like to lose about 100 lbs.(I have been heavy most of my life) but it seems like it's much harder to stick to a diet when you are doing it alone. Maybe we could work together on this. I have 3 boys and I want to try for a girl next year but I really need to get the weight off first. I am very determined to do this, so maybe we could help each other lose the weight! If you want you can email me and we can talk more about this.My email address is ____@____.com Hope to hear from you soon. Have a great day!

A LITTLE ABOUT ME:

I am a SAHM of 3 beautiful boys ages are 8,5,2 months. My husband and I have been married for 6 years.

I lost several pounds before my pregnancy just by walking in the evenings, usually for 30 minutes. Good luck!

May I suggest south beach diet. I have recently lost 40 lbs and lost it within a years time. They have easy options such as TV dinners, lunch wraps, meal replacement bars and breakfast bars as well as snacks. You can research the diet online, there are 3 phases to follow and basically it is a diet following whole grain food as well as lean protien and food high in fiber. I have also struggled with my weight up and down and have had 2 babies and this is the only thing that has worked for me. I hope this puts you on the right track. Oh and I didnt really work out for the first few months and still seemed to lose the weight, I added walking on my treadmill at home a few months into and recently added weight training. Its an easy diet to follow and stick to. Good Luck!!

try the shot and pill. It's a little pricey for the visits but you end up saving money on food. I lost 50 lbs in 3 months and am currently 18 wks pregnant. You have to get off of it when you begin to try getting pregnant. It worked wonders for me and as soon as I am done breastfeeding i will go back on it. Dr. Tracy Vicari and Dr. Cozzolino both do it. Also Dr. Garcia. Dr. Vicari's number is ###-###-####. Good luck!

Try the SouthBeach diet. It keeps you full and it's very easy to follow. Maybe for excerise try going for a walk or something easy. I hate exercising! I have a membership at Curves and I have totally floundered on going the last 5 months...and boy oh boy can I tell!

I am in the same situation. 2 years after having my son, I still have the weight because I don't have the motivation. Now, I have finally found what works for me and the weight is coming off! I have a lab/desk job as well. I bring carrots and apples so if I have to have something, I snack on those. I make myself get away from the desk several times a day and walk the stairs down and up (I work in a 3 story building). if you don't, you could walk around the building, find something like that. Excercise doesn't have to be a regemented thing, get it whenever you can. I don't do any diet program, I cook what I always cook for my husband and son, and I just eat a much smaller portion size and don't snack after dinner. When I can, I work out on an eliptical machine we have, but that is very rare! This is where I am going to enlist my husband's help. It is easier when you are both doing it!
Basically, just be sensible and have some self control. You don't need a "diet" program, they always drive me nuts! Lots of fruit and veggies instead of junk and get away from you desk several times a day. Simply walking does so much for you! Good luck with the weight and getting pregnant!

Just wanted to see how you are doing on your weight loss goals? Make sure you are drinking plenty of water - I learned that a lot of times when I would eat I was really just dehydrated instead. I found a great, simple way to lose my baby weight and start healthy habits - and I found it through my own Mom! I don't know if it will work for you, but you can check it out at www.powerup.isagenix.com. And the best thing is that it will help you to be healthier, not just weigh less, to better care for that new life inside you. All the best.

I go to Jazzercise. It is so much fun!!! I take my kids and they play while I do the class. I have gone from a size 14 to a 6 in about 7 months. They have an open house right now, so if you want to try it it is free!!!

Good luck!!

The only exercise i do is 30mins of walking a day & sometimes not even that & sit ups. Its such an easy & safe way to loose weight. Hey C.,
I hear ya life is so busy and really hard to stay focused on taking care of yourself when we are taking care of our kids and husbands work and house work. I would suggest getting a a water bottle and make that your new best friend. I always heard you must drink lots of water to stay healthy. Another suggestion is to get up 45 minutes before you normally would and do a workout tape or some sort of workout that you like. I currently usually get up at 5am and run at your apmt complex gym. I do the slim fast also for breakfast and lunch. I just started that and i like the new ingredients it really does curve my appetiete. I am not hungry for hours. I too really want a baby another one. I have a 6 year old boy who is an amazing kid and i love him so much. My husband isnt ready for anotherone. So i say do what you have to do and get that baby on the way!! You can do IT!!! Good Luck!!
