Suggestions on Type of Chair for Nursery

I need some advice on what type of chair is the most comfortable and ecomonical (less than $200) for a nursery. I tried out some gliders, but feel off of one while trying to get up from it so I'm not too keen on the typical glider out there. I'm looking for something that is foremost, comfortable. The rocking functionality would be nice but not a necessity. We like the more traditional style of furniture. Any suggestions from the veteran moms out there?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your advice. I ended up getting a glider and I'm pleased with it.

Sounds like the glider you tried did not have a wide-enough base, or the wood was too "thin" to keep it stable. It's like any other piece of furniture, "one size does NOT fit all". Keep looking....I'm sure you will find a glider/ottoman that you DO like! Keep your eye out for "moving sales" or log on to Craig's List, Freecycle, or e-Bay.

A traditional rocker will "walk", and you will probably find your walls and baseboards "nicked" and "chipped" from when the rocker hits it, and I can tell you from experience with 2 boys that you will NOT want a chair that does NOT rock!!

I loved my glider, but it was a hand-me-down, and I'm not sure how many children it had been used for before it got to me, but it just got too "rickety" for me to be able to keep anymore.

Congratulations on Baby #2!

I also bought mine from walmart.com. It ended up being $170 and shipping was free with site to store option. It was super easy to put together and was the espresso color that matched my crib. So far so good, just wish the cushion was a little thicker, but good for the price!

My mom gave me a lazy boy rocker recliner. OMG it is amazing. I LOVE this chair. It is wonderful for nursing. It is an ugly brown, but so worth it.

We have a rocker/glider that I adore! I tried a more traditional rocking chair, but the first time that your baby is up all night crying and you end up catching some z's sleeping with them in the chair - you will NEVER go back to a traditional UNCOMFORTABLE rocker! Find something cushy with an ottoman! We have used our rocker/glider for 4 1/2 years and I love it! It has been through 2 babies already and working on baby 3. With baby 2, I found a great slipcover that I adore to match my 2nd ones room and will probably do the same for baby 3. Good luck, happy hunting and make sure you can comfortably sleep in whatever chair you buy!

Have you considered a chase? The chairs are very comfy and you could get a sleek one or an oversized one. I have a friend who is selling one with a sofa, if interested let me know.

I have to say I love the glider I have. I didn't think I wanted one, but after having one in the room at the hospital and wanting a way to rock my baby, the glider was my best option. I actually bought one from Walmart because they were the only ones that carried the dark wood color I needed for our nursery. I bought it for $150 and it included the ottoman:

It is actually very good quality. I had it shipped to store for pick up so the shipping was free.
