Suggestions on Giving Baby Shower Hostess Thank You Present

I am being given a shower in a week and was looking for some neat thank you gifts for my hostess. The more unique the better. I had thought about giving them a gift certificate for a 1/2 gallon of ice cream ( I live in the town that makes Blue Bell ice cream), an ice cream bowl and a container of pickels. But thought they might be confussed. So I am up for any suggestions.

What can I do next?

We got my hostesses small painting of women gathered together laughing. They were by Kathy Womack. You could find those paintings that are painted on a block, so they pop out of the wall.
Jewlery is an all time favorite too!

I, too, think that is an awesome idea...especially if you put the items in a blue basket and decorate it with storks, etc. You could also add an ice cream scoop, toppings, and sundae glasses (or things like that). Congrats on your new baby and best wishes!

A night out for dinner is always good as couples with children know that does not happen much. You could offer to baby sit or give the dinner to them.

Hi, J. -

Your thoughts about giving your hostess the coupon for Bluebell ice cream is perfect!
To add an ice cream bowl would be very thoughtful, but I think I'd forgo the pickle idea at this time.

Your mentioning pickles brought to mind our favorite Christmas pickle recipe, which is a hit everywhere and makes a delicious homemade gift (divided into smaller jars to spread the gift around. Be sure to keep some in refrig for your family, too.)

TEXAS CHRISTMAS PICKLES

yields 1 gallon

* 1 gallon jar of dill pickles
* small bottle Tabasco sauce
* 3 cloves garlic, chopped
* 5-pound bag of sugar ( or 4-pound bag + 2 more cups)

Drain all juice from pickles and discard. Slice pickles lengthwise and place in jar. Add Tabasco and garlic. Add about one-third of the sugar.
Screw lid back on jar tightly, so no juice will leak out. Gently tip jar back and forth several times to allow sugar and spices to mix with pickles. Leave on counter at room temperature
for about a week.
As sugar dissolves, add more until all sugar is used. Gently tip jar back and forth daily to allow sugar and spices to mix.

God bless you and your family, including your newest addition-to-be,
M. T

I give food items or something the hostess can use. Also to keep cost down I did a small bag of yummies: coffee, tea, dark chocolate and a special note from me. You can buy a large box of these items and then make cute gift bags to hand out.

I gave my hostess a nice ceramic baking dish. Inside I folded a pretty kitchen towel & on top of the towel, I placed a pretty kitchen recipe card with my family recipe for lemon bars printed on it. On the side I put a new pastry blender (to use to make the crust) & on the other side of the recipe I placed a wooden hand lemon juicer. It was a really cute presentation & something useful. I've seen her bring the baking dish to gatherings with our family, so I always have a smile on my face when I see it.

might be late but I always give moms and moms to be a little clay pot called a mommy pot. It is very small and for when your kids pick you flowers. Used mine yesterday. You can do a search "Mommy pots by Gail, New York". Gail sells them for 5$ each and 5$ for shipping of your total order. I love them and always have a half dozen on hand for quick gifts. People love them once they figure out what they are! Reminds me, I ned to order some more.
