Suggestions for Martial Arts Schools

Hi,

My 8-year old son has been doing karate at the park district for a few years now and i think he's ready to get more serious about it. Can anyone recommend a martial arts school preferably in the naperville or plainfield area? Thanks!

What can I do next?

World Martial Arts on Ogden in Naperville is GREAT ! ! ! They are very patient with kids. All three of mine went there. The two eldest got their second degree black belts before graduating middle school! The original reason why I signed my son up when he was in third grade was to help him learn discipline and self control. This school is great at teaching those. In fact after he was there for two weeks I got a call from his teacher asking me if anything had changed at home because he was a different kid. She said "Whatever you're doing, don't stop!"

www.tmmartialarts.com We have been going for two years and it is a GREAT program. The Master of the program I believe is in the Hall of Fame of Martial Arts and the children are well-disciplined and taught true techniques, with fun!

I suggest TM Martial Arts in Joliet. I understand that is is a bit south of where you are looking at, but it doesn't hurt to check them out. Visit their website at www.tmmartialarts.com for class times and general information. My daughter has been a student there for almost 5 years now and currently holds the rank of 1st degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. She is 12. My son who is 8 is currently a Blue belt holder. They welcome you to cme and visti a class. Try today, Friday, at 4:30 or tomorrow at 10am.

Hi!

My son attends ATA Journey Taekowndo / Karate for Kids in Plainfield. They are located just south of 119th street on Rt. 59 on the east side of the road. They are in the same complex at Nick's Cozy Corner. He has been attending there for 2 1/2 years, and still likes it! Great place for kids!

My son attends ATA Karate for Kids at Rice Lake Shopping Center off of Butterfield Rd. The classes are fun and reasonably priced. The instructors keep the children motivated. They have adult classes too! You can search for local schools on their website http://ataonline.com/schools/locations.asp

My daughter takes classes at Yongin Martial Arts in Naperville.

We've been really pleased with the program and instructors.

THere is one on Rte 59, just before you get to 87th street that I heard was good. No personal experience however.
