Suggestions for Frozen Pizza

Hi moms,
What is your favorite brand of frozen pizza? Publix carries so many varieties, but the ones we tried so far were terrible!!! Either too soggy, or tasted like cardboard... I'd love to find a good brand to keep on hand as a "go-to" kitchen staple!

What can I do next?

Hey M.,

How are you? Just got back from Target and frozen pizza's were on my list. My husband and I like their brand Archer Farms. I like the thin crust ones and he likes the self rising ones. We think they are pretty good and the prices are comparable to Publix.

Good luck!

Frozen pizza can be simply be replaced with a tortilla, spaghetti sauce, shredded cheese and cut up raw veggies of choice. Meats are easy when using deli sources or leftovers. Throw the toppings on the tortilla and put it in a toaster oven to warm through. This takes very little time and tastes heaps better! ... for the health of your family,

Deaqr M.,

I use different brands of pizzas. Even publix brand is good. My kids like the thin crust pizzas. DiGordino pizzas are good. Stouffers pizza breads are good as well. You could even make your own pizzas or pizzas breads.

There are a few more brands that are worth eating, but off the top of my head I'm drawing a blank...Getting old.....LOL....

Good luck.

If you have anymore questions, I'd be happy to help.

Sincerely,

G. H.

I tried a California Pizza Oven frozen pizza a while back when they were on sale for $5. It was cheeses and tomatoes. I thought it was pretty good. (I did bake it on my Pampered Chef pizza stone, which I would highly recommend to give your frozen pizza the best crust.) I've also found that Red Baron pizzas are okay as are Freschettas. (Sometimes I doctor them up with real bacon bits, my own fresh veggies/mushrooms and an extra packet of shredded mozzarella.)

Good luck in your search.

Well, this doesn't really qualify, but I find that the Boboli thin crust and regular crust are better(and probably a little healthier) than the frozen pizzas. They are really fast to prepare; I keep a small jar of Prego spag sauce on hand for the base, and it only takes a couple of minutes to throw together. (and pepperoni lasts a long time in the fridge!)

Whole Foods has great Frozen Pizzas and they're a bit healthier. We stopped getting frozens though and started buying the pizza dough from publix (in bakery) and we get an organic pizza sauce (with the pasta sauces) and cheese. It seems like a lot of work, but it only takes about five minutes to get it ready and then you can make the crust to your specific specifications. I personally like to make a white pizza with spinach....

Although it is new and only has I think 3 varieties (cheese, pepperoni, and supreme) the DiGiorno Ultimates are really good. They are on the expensive side of the frozen pizzas (around 6 bucks I think) but they are really good. I'd get more than one for a larger family though.

Before we found those, I was buying the Frescheta pizzas and they are pretty good too.

I like the frozen California Pizza Kitchen pizzas. Publix has them. They have margharita flavor (very tasty), even BBQ chicken, and a white pizza that I love!
