Suggested Computer Games for Ages 4 to 5

My son plays a lot of games on the internet. Here are the sites he asks for:

There's also disney.com, but some of those seem to be geared for a little older kids...more play, less education.

Humongous, owned by Atari now, has a few games that my kids love, such as Pajama Sam, Freddie Fish, Putt-Putt, and Spy Fox. The first three games I listed are for ages 3-8, and the kids solve problems and riddles to advance in the game and win it. Spy Fox is for kids a little older, but still on the same format of solving problems to win. The graphics are great, and the stories are very entertaining to kids. Mine play them over and over. My daughter is 13 now but when she was about 3 she started on the Jumpstart series. We started with Toddler and went through 4th grade and Spanish. She loved those games.

She had several more that were a lot of fun, Maggie's Preschool, Madeline, Fisher Price Dollhouse. I realize those might not be around any more.

Our girls have learned alot from having WebKinz. www.webkinz.com - Basically, you can purchase a webkinz at Hallmark (or other stores close by) come home, go online...your child will "adopt" their pet, give it a name etc... they are then given a basic house and some webkinz cash to feed their pet and add things to their home. They can play lots of educational games! My girls have learned alot with this, even my 3.5 yo.! We allow only a certain amount of time on the computer and we are also with them (my 3yo) just to see if she needs help. Your kids will learn about money, letters, numbers, problem solving etc... It's fun learning! Good luck.

Jumpstart World Kindergarten. It is excellent and they progree through harder and harder lessons. It is linked through the internet so it sends you little progress reports. It is way better than the regular jumpstart. I think it was $20. Look on their website though because sometimes thay have $5 off coupons.

We just got the WII as a family.
My son has a leapster TV as well.

We only play the Wii on weekends and limit computer time as I am not a fan. I've only given in so he won't be BEHIND!

I love www.webkins.com. It is great and safe too. I think someone else told you about this too! Now webkins are easier to get, they are in many stores now in our area.

My kids are 4 and 5 and both love to play the computer. We have Jumpstart Kindergarten and First Grade and also Smart Steps Kindergarten plus a few character games like Finding Nemo and Winnie the Pooh.

www.starfall.com and funbrain.com Both of these were recommended by our school computer teacher!

I signed up for mynoggin.com. it costs just under $6 per month, but it has reading, math and art games for the kids to play. it also has levels-- pre-k, kinder, 1st... you can try to free for a week. me almost 5 yr old really likes it!

Humongous Entertainment had three series that were great: Pajama Sam, Spy Fox, and Putt Putt. They all require various kinds of problem-solving skills to "win" the game and have arcade-type games interspersed throughout. My 8 yr old "inherited" them from her older brothers & still plays them -- we've had most of them for 7 or 8 years!
