Successful VBAC?

Hello, I also live on Grand Rapids and I wanted to share a wonderful ob with you. They will be moving to a brand new building downtown in the summer but right now theres 2 offices one in kentwood and one on the blodgett campus. Dr.Judith Hiemenga is awesome! Currently the name is grand valley gyn. but theyre changing the name to Grand Rapids womens health phone####-###-####. I was trying for vbac..but after being long overdue my body had other plans.

I tried to have a VBAC. Unfortunatly I couldn't. My doctor was excellant. Dr. Gorsuch is on Eastbeltline. He is through St. Marys. If I have any more I will def. go back. Good luck.

ADD: I read some of your other responses and def. talk to your doctor about risks. There are risks but they aren't high. Plus, when you go into the hospital they watch you more carefully. They would put in internal monitors for the baby. There was another doctor in the practice I went to (Dr. Turk). He is very technical and knows all the statistics. Talk to your doctor and make a choice then.

Hi J., I had my 1st C-sec in 2000. I just had my second baby in Nov. 07. I am a paralegal and worked in medical malpractie cases for 6 years. VBAC can be incredibly dangerous. It's not worth the risk. Sure, it can go well and sometimes as a mom, you feel like you should have vaginal delivery. When a VBAC goes well, it's great. When it goes bad, though, it happens FAST. your uterus can rupture and in the few minutes it takes you to get to the OR, your child can be oxygen deprived and become brain damaged. You can also bleed to death. These are not risks you want to take. Any form of delivery is still "giving birth" I have worked on a few cases where children had CP after VBAC. It's really not worth it. I had my 2nd C-sec at Spectum 4 months ago and I was amazed at how painless it was. I'm totally not trying to scare you, these are just things that I've seen happen. That said, my doctor was Kathryn Knudson at MMPC (Beltine location and Lake MI drive location) She was great, as is Dr. Elizabeth Leary in the same practice. They both were supportive of VBAC if I went that route. I just choose not to. good luck with whatever you decide!
