Stupid Birth Control Question

Unless you missed a pill or two, the percentage rate of you getting pregnant has not increased. However, breakthrogh bleeding could mean you're not on the proper birth control pill for you. I've been on birth control for years and one thing the gyno has continuously told me is sometimes your body gets "use" to the pills and you need to switch to prevent breakthrough bleeding. I definately think you should call your gyno's nurse to get a message to him.

ask gyno to get another BCP or some other BC. As for making sure you don't get pregnant while you change BCP keep the old condoms handy.

Are you taking it at the same time everyday? If not you can decrease the effectiveness.

How long have you been on it and is it a low dose birth control?

Break through bleeding is very common in the first 3 to 6 months and does not affect the effectiveness, as long as it's being taken correctly.

Sore breast are a common side effect when taking birth contril.

If I remember right, I don't believe breakthrough bleeding affects or increases the risk of pregnancy. Breakthrough bleeding is common with birth control. Especially, in the first 6 months. (From what I've read.) Like MT said, my Dr. did say breakthrough bleeding could indicate, it's simply not the best BC for you. Perhaps, there is a kind of BC that would work with your body better.

That's exactly why I got paragard. The pill makes me feel pregnant it was awful! Like the other mamas said, long as you take it everyday at the same time you should be just fine!

If you have sex, you are at risk for getting pregnant. But I don't think having breakthrough bleeding increases that risk. You might have to try several kinds of pills or other methods before you find the perfect fit.

The pill is not 100% effective ever, so there is always the risk of getting pregnant if you are having sex. Is this a new form of birth control for you? If you are having side effects that are out of the norm for you, you should definitely contact your doctor to let them know and get their advice. The stuff you are experiencing, especially if it happens the same way month after month, doesn't point directly to pregnancy, but it doesn't mean all is well either. Talk to your doctor about your options. Perhaps this pill isn't the right one for you. But if pregnancy is something you want to avoid altogether with no worries, you may want to explore another form of birth control that will accomplish that for you. Good luck!
