Hi Moms!
I have a wonderful almost 3 year old and he has just come down with a major stuffy nose. I have used everything I can think of but nothing seems to help him sleep at night. I have tried flushing his nose with saline, the little noses line of stuff, the vapo stuff you put in the tub, vicks, and a humidifier. Doctors tell me not to use any kind of OTC meds yet. Any ideas??

What can I do next?

Prop one end of his mattress up using extra blankets and stuff. Lying flat is terrible for congestion. Also, Walmart sells a Pediacare plug-in that is approved for infants 6-months and up. We've used it in the past and it really helps (and my ped. says it's safer than Vicks). Keep running that humidifier, too. If it is possible he has allergies, keep the windows shut, and make sure the filter on your air conditioner is clear. Good luck.

I second what A C said, I would completely nix the Vick's it can constrict air ways and make things worse. It will just take time and I know it sucks my boys have the same problem right now.

Keep the humidifier on. Even if you don't think it's helping it probably is. Before bed you could sit in the bathroom with him and run the hot water in the shower. The steam may help loosen up those boogies.

Poor guy, hope he feels better soon.

there is one OTC for kids. It is a homeopathic natural medicine. But it taste bad so my kids won't take it strait you might want to mix it in somereally sweet juice or something. But it does work. I ended up giving it to my husband and he loves it. It's made by the same people who make baby teething pills.
Hyland's Cols n Cough Multisymptom. it has a yellow label with red letters and a little bear on it.
I think they have it at either walmart or target.
