Stuffy Nose

He may very well have a slight allergy to WHO knows what: dust, mold, pet hair, WHATEVER. See if you can get a referral to an allergist in your medical group and see if they will see your son. Even if they cannot treat him with allergy medicine, there is infants benadryll and other antihistamines that are safe for your little one to take. I know more than one child that has suffered from nasal allergies in infancy, its just a matter of finding the right doctor that wont blow you off - and NO, it is NOT normal for your baby to always have a stuffy nose all the time unless one of his siblings is getting and keeping him sick with the sniffles.
Since it says you have 4 children, that may be the problem. CHildren that attend school are covered in germs and bring them home - and since your baby hasnt had time for his immune system to completely develop, he might just merely have the same stuffy nose all the time because of the germs the kids bring home. I suggest having them wash their hands as SOON as they step in the door from school, and then use antibacteral hand stuff on their hands.

My son seemed to have a stuffy nose off and on (more on then off) for about 8 months after he was born. then all of a sudden, poof, it was gone. Now he only gets one if he has a cold which is rare. We became pro's with the booger sucker. We would suck out his nose, then give him drops, then give him his bottle. That seemed to help. Good luck!

Are you using a milk based formula? He might be lactose intolerant! Ask your doctor about switching to soy, chronic stuffy nose is a common sign of a milk allergy.

My son had this same issue. It turned out he was allergic to dairy, and after I cut dairy from my diet his congestion went away.

Have you tried using a humidifier? When my son has a stuffy nose we alway put it on a night stand next to his crib and it works really good clearing his nose. Also try going in the bathroom with him with the hot water running and the door shut for about 10-15 min that also help with the nasal congestion.

I have just joined, so please forgive me if i am not responding in a usual fashion. I have three children, my oldest always had the same issue. As time went on we found out that he was really allergic to our cats and the dog. I am not sure if this could be the problem for you, but I thought I would mention it, just in case. I hope things get better for both of you.

I had the same issue with my little boy and my pediatrician said that I might be making it worse! He said that the aspirator might be irritating the lining of his little nose making it produce more mucus to protect itself. He said try not to use it for a few days and his nose will stay stuffy for a day or two but should clear up if he's not sick. Just an idea to try! good luck!

You might want to ask your doctor about the possibility of swollen adenoids, especially if he snores. Some doctors might tell you children don't have them that young but both my brother and my son had problems with them when they were less than a year old and only identified through an ENT specialist.

Have you spoken to his doctor to see if he has alergies of some sort that could be causing this? or maybe get another oppinion from another doctor
