Hello!!! I need some advice on strollers. My husband and i have an 18mo old and are expecting in March. I was just searching around for double strollers but not sure if they are neccesary. I hate the big clunky ones!!! side by side? tandem?. We have a Jeep jogger that stays at home for walks, Peg Perego Pliko lite which i take everywhere!!! and that stupid BIG clunky Graco travel system that sits in the garage. I dont want to cart around two strollers. How are those Sit-n-Go's? Any suggestions would be appreciated....thanks

What can I do next?

Congratulations! I have a three year old and a 3 month old. I just bought the Joovy Caboose Ultralight - its a sit/stand, has a seat in the front for the younger baby or you can clip a infant seat in it. Its not too big or long either! My daughter loves it. I ordered it online from www.strollerdepot.com! Good luck.

I could not find a sit and go that would allow me to clip in the infant seat and also allow my toddler to sit. He could stand, but there wasnt room to sit. We went with the Graco Duo Glider, and I'm quiet pleased with it. Visit a baby boutique, find one you like, and then buy online. We saved over $200 doing it that way. Good Luck!

hi S., i have the double jogging stroller from valco. i absolutely love it, its truly the cadillac of strollers, today we were at a farm with my 4 year old, 2 year old, and 2 month old, all in the stroller together comfortably securely, going over grass, gravel, etc. its great for us, i live in my stroller, do a lot of outdoor stuff, etc. the peg perego infant seat clips right in, its great. i dont know if you would like it because it really is big, i can sit on the foot of it to nurse! yet it handles a million times better than my single peg does! however, i did want to put in my 2 cents because my kids are about the same age apart, and i know that if we had a front to back, the one in the front would be tortured. they will fight, and if they are side by side, at least its a fair fight! plus there are no arguments about who gets the "better" seat, they are equal. yes, it is bulky, but a double is going to be awkward no matter what, front to back or side to side. it steers amazingly, i can steer with one hand, tight corners, etc. just make sure it fits through a standard doorway, which mine does. and having sunshades that operate independently of each other is more important than you might think, and having them both recline comfortably is very important too. get lots of advise and be sure to try out a bunch of them. when i was looking, a friend advised me to try the front to back with the toddler and a 10 lb bag of sugar or something where the baby will be to see how it handles, especially around tight corners. i also would hate having the kid in front be out of my reach. my sister has the sit and stand, she likes it for quick errands, but uses her valco for big outings. i guess it depends on how you use your stroller. good luck, D.

We went through the same thing last year. My daughter was 20mo when #2 was born. I had a Front/Back double stroller and HATED it. It could have been because it was an inexpensive one, but I felt like I was so far away from my toddler sitting in the front of the stroller and I couldn't see what she was doing. Plus it was not the easiest thing to steer.

We tried a sit and stand that a friend lent us, and couldn't get our toddler to stay in it. So that didn't work out. Finally I found a side by side umbrella stroller and I LOVE it. My girls can play with each other, it fits through normal doors, and I can see them! it steers just like a regular lightweight stroller. I can even push it with one hand. I have a KidCo stroller that I got on Craigslist, but my mom was going to get me the Jeep one from Toys R Us if I didn't like the KidCo one.

Hope that helps!

Whenever I take my son with my niece I would use the double stroller and not the one side by side. PERSONALLY I'd go with the side by side one because the one with them back to back it feels like you're trying to work an amusement park ride. It's hard to turn, heavy, and it's difficult in stores because the isles are too small.

Good luck!

Hi there....i bought the Peg Perego side by side and it did it's purpose for a while. Not great for infants and to be honest, I thought it was made rather poorly for the cost. However, my kids are 2 yrs apart and I love my sit n go. Just make sure that your infant seat fits because they are not terribly great for newborns. My older loved it. He could stand or sit and he felt he had more choices. Mine didn't have a tray near the handles of the stroller for me but the kids had one. I wouldn't spend too much $$ on the stroller because shortly the older one won't even want the sit n go and you'll be back to your single like me!!!

Good luck with the family!

Hi and congrats!!! I have twins girls who are now 6. When they were babies, I had the Peg Perego Duette (front-back). As they got older and started to fight, I got the Combi which is a side by side but folds up compactly. It was light, but not sturdy at all. If you are looking for a side by side, try the Peg Perego Twin Aria, although I am not sure if you can put an infant seat in it. I doubt I gave you any help, but just do your research...

I got a double stroller not the ones side to side but the ones that are in the front and it was so hard for me to steer. Maybe it was just me. I know they have smaller ones that there is a seat in the back and the 18 mo old will face you and then you can put the car seat in the front much more easier but I just can't remember who makes them. hi S.-
I have newborn twins (one currently in hand being fed) and i have used the sit and go/snap n go twice with great success. i find it helpful to just put their car seat onto the frame and take off! it has a place for some storage underneath that i have been using for my purchases. i bought it at babies r us.com. they do not carry them in the store.

Hi Stefani! Congrats on your baby on the way. :)
My kids are just about 3 years apart, and when my second came along I wasn't ready have my 3 year old not in a stroller. I looked around A LOT and I finally got the Sit & Stand. At the time I only could get it online, but now I see them everywhere.

I really enjoyed mine. My oldest is out of a stroller now, but while I used it it was good. The infant goes in the front seat. There are special bars that are inserted somehow (my husband did all that) and the baby carrier clips right into there. Your toddler would sit or stand on the back part. I read another woman's response that the toddler couldn't sit while the infant was in there...that was not the case with the sit and stand I got. He could sit or stand anytime. Make sure if you get it that it comes with a sturdy cup holder. The earlier models didn't have that. Drives me nuts. Then when the baby gets bigger you take the bars out of the front and there's a snack tray that slips on.

THE DOWN SIDE to that stroller...
It is a pain in the butt to fold. I had to figure out how to do it and I think I was the only one who could get it completely folded.
It is big like the regular Graco double...but mostly all double strollers are big.
Oh, one more thing...your toddler would not be able to sleep in that stroller.

I would suggest shopping around and try to find it already assembled on display. Have your daughter sit in the back and wheel her around a bit to see if you would really like it or not.

I hope that was helpful. Buying the wrong stroller can be so annoying cause they can be costly and if you hate it that's miserable.

Good luck.

Hi S.,

We have a 3 month old and we purchased the Quinny Buzz stroller. We originally had to purchase it from a site in the Netherlands, but they now sell it here and BuyBuy Baby. I can't say enough about this stroller. It turns on a dime and takes bumps in the sidewalk like it has it has shock absorbers. We bought the car seat for 0-6 months which attaches to the wheel based frame and the other stroller attachment for when she gets older. The one bad thing about is that we constantly get stopped in the street by the curious!! Here are is a link so that you can view it:

Hey S.-
i have a 2 1/2 and a 4 month old, i have a huge double jogger which is great but takes up too much room. I've checked out a bunch of strollers and the chicho side by side and the peg perego aria we're both great side by sides. I found that the sit and stand was for older children, my 2 1/2 old son still wants to be in the stroller especially since he's jealous of his new sister.

I had a front to back one. Only the back was able to recline so the baby had to lay there. Also, the front did not have a hood and that meant the child in the front was always in the sun and if we got caught in rain, yup, she got wet. It served its purpose for the most part though (going to malls and when I was out alone with them). Had a great basket on the bottom too which was necessary. I think it was a Graco brand. It was years back though. I didn't spend much on it (less than $200) because I knew it wasn't going to be used all the time. My kids at the time were 2 years apart. My friend had the side by side and could never get in and out of stores and once she did get in, she couldn't get through aisles! The seats were not real supportive either. It was almost like a double umbrella stroller. Not good for infants at all. Good luck with your search. I'm sure you'll find the right one to suit your needs.

Congratulations to you guys!

I am in the same boat (sort of) my son is ten months now and will be 14 mos when his sister arrives.
The phrase light double stroller is apparently an oxymoron. I have asked every single parent I've seen and the answer has always been, "Nope this one is heavy."

My plan is to have the snuggli for the baby while she's still light and my umbrella stroller for my son.

I can see no other effective plan.

Depends on your children.

I had my children 18 months apart and I LOVE my double stoller. I have a tandem one that we take on walks all the time. I don't know what i would do without it.

I am a HUGE fan of my phil&Teds E3 Sport Buggy with the double attachment. It doesn't look or feel like a double, I use my alll the time. It is sporty and folds really easy and compactly. It definitly isn't a "normal" looking double stroller, and my kids get a kick out of riding in the "back" seat. If you want to see it we have one in the store i work at Starlight Baby in Southbury, or you can look at the website for the North American distributor, www.regallager.com hope this helps, best of luck with the new baby! :)

I second the MacClaren double stroller. I love mine! I am 5'2 and had a hard time seeing over the top of the front to back ones. I also have a Peg Perego Aria single from my oldest and I am used to a lightweight stroller. I love the MacClaren because it folds down like an umbrella stroller and doesn't take up my entire trunk space!! The baskets underneath are a decent size and it accomodates infant up to toddlers. My kids ALWAYS love to sit and ride so it was the best choice for me! HTH and GL!

Hi,

I love my twin Maclaren! I take it everywhere with me. The only downside is that your kids may fight sitting next to each other. But besides that it is a great stroller.

Hi,
I have a 2.5 yr. old and a 1yr. old. I am currently using a Baby Trend sit n stand LX. The LX model has the option of a cloth seat which makes the stroller a true front to back tandem OR remove the seat and your toddler can sit or stand. It gives you 3 options. The only other company that makes one like this is One Step Ahead. I didn't need to use a double of any kind until my little one was almost 5 months because I used a carrier until then and a single stroller for my older girl. Any double stroller will be somewhat bulky! Good Luck! Jen

Hi S.-

I would recommend a double Maclaren stroller, such as the Twin Techno (side by side - the other kind just looks wayyyy too huge and heavy to me). I have a single one of these now and it is GREAT!! It's very lightweight and is easy to use. Rather than getting one at Babies R Us, etc., I would check out www.specialtybaby.com, they usually have them for cheaper - that's where I got my single. I'm also going to be getting a double Maclaren, as I am expecting in February and have a one-year old also. Hope that helps! Oh, and you can always test them out at Babies R Us before buying.
