Stroller Recommendations...is the Baby Trend Expedition LX Any Good?

We recently purchased this Baby Trend brand 3-wheeled jogging stroller. Of course after I bought it, I read bad reviews of it on Babies R Us (mostly due to a wiggly front tire problem). Has anyone had a bad experience with this stroller? Or does anyone have any recommendations for inexpensive jogging strollers. We can't afford to spend too much on one. All this baby gear is really adding up! Thanks so much for any input!

Yes, i totally agree, you can break the bank on baby gear if you feel the need to buy BOB's and Bugaboo's which i think are a total waste unless you are going to take it over sand snow and mud. 800 for a stroller.WHOA!! No thank you. I have this stroller you are talking about and I LOVE IT. Never had a problem with it and my first son lived in it since 6 nonths old. Never had issues witht he front wheel or any other part of it. Im acutally getting to upgrade to their double jogger for both my boys. Its the best bang for the buck. I would rather spend money on their education and more important things then what they are being carted in and wearing.

Good luck.....

I had the Baby Trend Expedition and used it for both kids. I recently gave it to my cousin, and she's using it for her baby. For a $100 jogger, that thing has held up great! Now granted, both my cousin and I are walkers (competitive walkers) and not joggers - so if you do serious running, maybe you would want to invest in a more expensive brand. But overall, I was happy with the Expedition.

That being said, although I gave away my Expedition, I kept my Bugaboo Frog stroller! I still use that when I go for walks and take my 3.5 year old with me. I LOOOOOOOVE the Bugaboo. Lightweight, maneuverable, sturdy, comfy for my daughter, and actually a surprisingly good walking stroller! Granted, it was crazy expensive but I think you could get one used on eBay or Craigslist for a good price.

One thing someone told me that I so agree with is that strollers are like shoes - you wouldn't just have one pair - you have different shoes for different purposes. And here's the thing, your baby will spend LOTS of time in his various strollers, so it makes sense to get a couple of strollers that you will really like and that fit your needs really well. It is worth it! I hope that helps!

We purchased a BOB Revolution before our son was born at the recommendation of our neighbors whove used theirs for 5 years! I didnt want to be a "strollet queen"

All our other baby gear was used so we splurged on it.
What's great is you can use the infant car seat adaptor and it's like a travel system!

I live on the coast and take on hiking trails the sand, rough walking paths and the mall! They are expensive but I'm starting to see used ones on Craig's List and baby resale stores. If you don't think you need a swivel wheel you can get just the "BOB" stroller with a fixed wheel. It's very high quality and folds up easily.

I think it's well worth the investment! Do a little bargain hunting and you will find a deal.

When we had our 1st son I had quite a bit of Baby Trend products & found myself replacing them cuz they all had various problems &/or worked horribly. So, when I wanted a jogger, I stayed away from their joggers. We got lucky & someone gave us a good jogger that they weren't using anymore. Same thing happened w/our second son....got a good quality hand-me-down jogger from hubby's co-worker. If you are a die-hard runner or walker & plan on using the jogger a lot, I suggest investing in a decent one. Look at re-sale stores, EBay or Craig's list. Even garage sales. Maybe a friend or family member can pass one on. Make sure to look in the sale section of Babys R Us, too. They usually hide it some where off to the side but a lot of times, they have some really good stuff at great prices that was returned w/o a box or barely used but can't put back on the main floor. Years ago, I saw a Peg Perago stroller/infant seat combo super cheap (under $200!)& was so tempted to buy it even tho we already had one. Tap into your friends/family network & ask them to be on the lookout for a good quality used jogger. I totally agree w/you on baby gear....it is so expensive & I think most of it is also very over-priced. I got a lot of our gear at re-sale stores for just this reason & also cuz some it is used for such a short period of time & then it's outgrown. Best of luck!

Hi A.,

I have the Double Expedition jogger and love it. I was a little worried because of the reviews, but it was the one that fit my budget with all the extras I wanted. I use it for walking not jogging. It handles great and is easy to control. Most of the bad reviews I read had to do with front wheel problems, but all I had to do was tighten the screw a bit (which is the first thing I read in the instructions). I live in an area where there are a lot of thorns in the road from farm trucks around town, so I did have to replace the thin tire tubes (I got 2 flat tires within the first 2 weeks) with heavy duty ones at the local bike store. It was a very reasonable price to pay to make this stroller perfect. It is bulky and heavy (as I figured all jogging strollers would be), but I am able to fit it into the trunk of my Toyota Corolla, even with the tires on. It just takes a little maneuvering.

All in all, I love this stroller and would definitely recommend it! Good luck.

My first stroller was the Baby Trend Expedition jogger and I loved it! I have moved on to a double, however my husband still prefers the single. We have had no problems with it. Good luck!

Hi A.,
I don't know anything about the baby trend jogging stroller, but I have a recommendation if you decide to return it. I bought my jogging stroller from Costco.com and have been really happy with it. If you are a Costco member, you may want to check it out. It is a Go-Go Babyz Urban Advantage stroller. It is $149.99.
http://www.costco.com/Browse/ProductSet.aspx?Prodid=11202...=
I have two complaints - (1) It doesn't have a hand brake (only a foot brake) so if you are going downhill, it is hard to slow down. (2) The child cupholder is too small for sippy cups. But other than that, it has been a great purchase. It is easy to maneuver, comfortable for the child, has parent cupholders, a large storage area, it reclines all the way for sleeping, and the front wheel locks for jogging and swivels for walking.
Hope that helps!

Hi A.,

Have you considered buying a really good stroller with a great reputation like a Phil and Teds or a BOB second hand? The Bugaboo is great and they offer three models Bee, Frog and Chameleon but they aren't three wheeled joggers. There are a LOT of these strollers out there on Craigslist.org You could also check Lullaby Lane Clearance. They have some really nice things that are marked down generally because they are overstock or last year's model. You could call them for recommendations also. Best of Luck.

I have a baby trend jogger. I have loved it. I use to go roller blading with it when my oldest was younger. I lent it to my sister in law when I had my second and she had her first. I did get it back to go trail walking and I just put my youngest in a back pack. I have had it for over 3 years and love it still.

Check bike shops and spoting goods stores for refurbished joggers - also EBay and Craig's List. Is there a baby consignment store in your area? sometimes they have great gently used equipment and can tell you a lot about quality etc. We bought a baby trend travel system - the first one was missing parts from the box - we exchanged it for a 2nd which had a defective lock release so we took that back and bought an Evenflo. My poor hubby was schlepping all over the Bay Area to different Babies 'R Us stores to get a stroller & car seat set - our son was born 5 weeks early and we were caught unprepared. ;)

I have the Jeep jogger with the swivel front wheel--basic model from wal-mart.com--no ipod speakers. We have used the heck out of it in the past 2 years, and I love it! Right now, I am trying to decide what model double jogger that I can afford I like best, as we have a 22-month-old and a 5-month-old. The 5-month old is just about big enough to start moving from sling to stroller sometimes, and his sister still needs a stroller if I need her corralled, so it's time for a double. I wish Jeep made one, because none of the available to me double joggers has all the features of the Jeep single.

I HAVE THE BEST JOGGER EVER!!! I have the Bob (brand) "Revolution" (model) and its the best ever! It is really easy to use, folds up perfectly, drives like a cadillac, it has the best shock absorbers and it glides like a dream! Love it love it love it! YOu can click the front wheel to not move or it can move depending on the surface and what you are doing. The wheels come off easy to fit in smaller compartments. It's just a dream I am telling you.

I've had a BabyTred Expedition since Christmas of 07 and I've been completely happy with it! I have the one with the big fixed front wheel (not sure if you're talking about that or the one that can unlock and rotate).

I can't imagine any similar stroller being much better than this one. the basket is larg enough, the tether strap keeps it from getting away from you on a hill, theres and hand break (really comes in handy when going down hill). I have no complaints. My son likes it a lot. He's 3 now, so I only use it when I'm actually running or we're walking to the store or something that I don't think he'll make it on the walk back and I won't have an extra hand to pick him up.

Hope this helps.
