It is the most disgusting horrible tasting medication for a kid to take. I would call the pharmacist and ask about flavoring for it. Most kids can't keep this one down.

When my granddaughter was in the hospital for a full week last summer they gave her Rocefrin. It was IV medication and it really worked well. Her strep was so bad her throat was swelled nearly shut. She was gagging on her own saliva. They tested her for mono twice at the hospital and once in the office before he admitted her. All 3 were negative for mono though. It was really really bad strep.

How old is your son? You can get the medicine with your son's fav flavour added at the pharmacy. Walgreens does it, I always get the bubblegum flavour. While on antibiotics, I would suggest giving your child probiotics to improve digestion. It helps a lot.

You can have it flavored if that might help.... Sorry your little one is ill.

Euryromycin (sp?) is known to make your stomach sick. Call the doctor and see if you can get a different medication.

I know with most kids the thought of shots is quite unpleasant, but my oldest son cannot/willnot -whatever -swallow the liquid medicine for strep! The doctors SWEAR they don't make the correct dosage in a pill form, so we have to get him a shot when he has it. He's had it a few times, and one time it was only one shot -the other it was one shot per day for three days. He doesn't like it, but it's honestly easier than trying to get the medicine down, which he DOES usually throw up even if he gets it down. Talk to the pediatrician about it. Strep is serious and your child really needs the antibiotics, so if he can't keep it down and there's not another one to prescribe, the shot route may be best.

If your son is taking that med which my dd took for strep too have him eat something first to coat his stomach. After taking the med give him a piece of candy right away to help take away the bad taste. My dd didn't mind taking the meds because she knew she was getting candy afterwards. Good luck!!

It is probably omnicef (that's what they give mine for strep) and it is very strong. My sister can't take it, she can't keep it down. Luckily my daughter tolerates it well and it knocks it right out. Call your pedi and let them know. There are other things he can take that wont double his misery!

my daughter had pneumonia and had to take a white antibiotic. She hated it! She also threw it up with in minutes of taking it and refused to take it again. The dr. said that this one can't be flavored. I don't know why. We tried everything to get her to take it. The dr. said to try and bribe her, didn't work. They said to actually HOLD her down on the ground and force it on her (she is 7 btw) and obviously that didn't work and my husband just couldn't stand her screaming and holding her down. Made him feel awful and she just screamed and screamed! He called the dr. back a 3rd time and said it's not going to happen. They finally said we can mix it with pudding. It finally worked. She didn't like it, but she happily took that option rather than being held down and forced to take it.
