Strange Toes!

Okay ladies, this is about my husband. His pinky toes turn bright red and are VERY sensitive. It went away and has come back & now has progressed to his ring finger. Has anyone else seen anything like this? He does have a dr. appoint. tomorrow but I wanted to do some research first. Thanks to all.

What can I do next?

This may not be the reason, but when your husband does see his doctor, I would make sure that he is given a test for diabetes. Diabetes can definitly cause a lot of different problems with your extremities, and especially with your feet, so I would recommend that you have him checked for that first thing!

My husband gets something called the Gout, but it is usually in his big toe. It becomes very red and is very painful. When it flares up he can't even let the sheet touch it that's how painful it can be. He has never gotten it anywhere else and I am not sure if it can travel to other parts of your body. I know it is a form of arthritis and is due to very high uric acid. When it flares up the doctor will give him an anti inflammatory and suggest diet changes. I think it is a good idea to take him to the doctor and get it checked out. Google gout and see if the symptoms match. But still keep the doctors appointment because it can be a number of things and if it is gout it does not go away on its own. Good luck!!

Weird - I'm thinking Gout?

look up gout, which is a food allergy

Hi C.,

It sounds like Gout, a painful condition caused by a build up of uric acid. Can be treated easily with allopurinal.

good luck

I'm not a medical professional or anything, but a good friend of mine's son had a very similar thing that turned out to be a very serious Staph Infection. By the time the doctors figured out what it was her son was very sick and had to stay in the hospital for days on IV. Thank goodness he is better now. But, apparently there is a staph that's going around that Dr's don't catch, called STAPH OREOUS CELLUTIS. It can spread to other areas of body and go into the bone. Since the same simptoms are now in your husband's ring finger, it's important to get him to the doctor (or hospital) immediately and have him tested for this (or another?) type of staph. Also, explain to the doctors to keep testing. My friend's poor son went through tremendous pain and surgeries by the time the doctors figured out what it was. I don't mean to alarm you, but until you know for sure, it's important to check it out.
I wish you and your husband well. Please let us know what you find.
