We are expecting our 2nd in 3 weeks or so and I'm looking into other brands of diapers. We live in a small town and only have a Dollar General in town. With our first, we loved the Target brand diapers! I'm wondering if anyone has used the Dollar General brand and liked them. Just because it's a very convenient store! It's not hard to get to Target, but I'm just looking for other options!

So, have any of you mamas used the Dollar General brand of diapers and how were they?

Thanks mamas!

Have a small pack of name brands handy, just in case.

Have you considered using amazon mom? You get 15% off for being a member and then another 15% off for using subscribe and save (which I always cancel and resubscribe for when I need diapers again) and free two day shipping for two months. Every time you spend $25, before discounts, you get another month of free prime (2 day) shipping, up to a year. I have found that name brands (I prefer Huggies) are cheaper or about the same as store brands and definitely cheaper than going to Target w/coupons or Costco. Plus, you never have to leave your house! I only have one in pull-ups at night now, but I wish I would have known about this with all of my kids, instead of just with my fourth. Check into it!

I have not tried Dollar General, but most of the cheap brands don't cost that much less. They are packaged differently, and it may be only a $5 pack, but if you are only getting 21 diapers, it is not a good deal.
I always use my phone calculator and figure out the cost per diaper, and compare that to Target. I used to pay 19 cents per size 5 diaper at Target. Walgreens size 5 are 28 cents/piece! Now we have moved onto pull-ups at night only since my son uses the potty all day. Those are 45 cents each. Which seems like a lot, but It's less than $20 a month, and if he wakes up dry, I reuse it the next night. So I think I'm probably paying $10 a month now.
Anyway, just remember to look at the cost per piece, and if the generic diapers are cheaper and don't absorb as much, then maybe it's not worth saving a few cents/diaper.

Personally, I don't like generic diapers because Luvs are cheaper, often, than generics (if you buy them at Target, they are!), coupons are easy to get for them, and to ME, they work a lot better. Try them out.

I just used Dollar General diapers last week . I was low on monery and ran out of diapers when I thought I had another pack. The DG brand is ok. My son did leak out one night but he also drank right before bed after I changed im so maybe that's why. I usually buy LUVS. They are 7.50 at DG and DG brand diapers are 6.00 in out area so not much of a dfference. Next time I will just spend the extra 1.50 on the luvs. The DG were good for me being broke but I wouldn't make them my regular diaper.

I am obsessed with diapers.com generic brand diapers. They are called Diapers.com Premium Diapers. We used Huggies, then switched to Target brand before I found this website. This awesome company has the best generic diapers I have ever used. I even like them more than huggies and they are MUCH less expensive. Also, they ship them right to your door in 2 days (sometime just 24 hours) and shipping is free if you buy more than $49. That is easy to do, as they also sell baby wipes and any other baby product you need. They have excellent customer service.

I can't say enough about Diapers.com. I do not work for them or know anyone who does. I just love their diapers and service. I tell every new mom I meet about it.

Here's a coupon code to get you started. 15OFFDEAL this code will get you $10 off your first order and Diapers.com will donate $10 to the american red cross.

sorry, never tried the "dollar general" brand, but I did have to buy the "SAVE" brand at a gas station when camping - UGH!
didn't absorb, ran right off and onto clothes. . . and some cause extreme diaper rash so to combat, you use more destin, etc. . .
I do like the Walmart and Taget generics . . . but, Hey, you can definately give the DG brand a try as others suggest.

I have not tried the Dollar gender brand, but thought I would offer another option. I have not read your other responses, but thought I would suggest trying Amazon.com/mom or diapers.com
We use Amazon and have our diapers shipped for free each month. If you do subscribe and save (which you can cancel a subscription at anytime) and are an amazon mom memeber you can save 30% on diaper orders. I have saved even more when a coupon is available on Amazon (just click to clip) or a few baby or parenting magazines offer coupons off diaper orders. I LOVE this option, because it saves me a trip to the store, I don't pay tax on the order and I can get the brand we use for less then the target, walmart or shopko brand. Thought I would suggest checking it out! Good luck with baby #2.
