Storage for Credit Cards/rewards Cards,etc

I usually keep the credit cards and things I don't use in a jewelry box. Well, I'm packing the box up, so I'm not sure what to do with my giant stack of cards I use only occasionally or not at all. Anyone have any recommendations on a good card wallet? It would need to hold 30 items or so?

What can I do next?

Perhaps first find out how many have been closed because you haven't used them and just get rid of them. Then you may want to close others. Any financial adviser will tell you it is not a good idea to have that many open credit cards.

I got the "key ring " app for my iPhone. You scan all of your rewards cards in, then you pull up the card and they scan your phone. Maybe this is an option for you?

I would put them in your pocketbook for right now. If they get lost with the movers, you'll be beside yourself trying to remember what all was in there to have to cancel or replace. What a mess that would be on top of everything else you have on your plate. Just put a rubber band around them for now and zip them in one of the pockets if you have one. After you move, then find a nice wallet holder for them.

A recipe box.

But, clearly LABEL the outside of the box, saying CREDIT CARDS, on it. So that, it is not misplaced or whatever.

where do you keep your important papers like ss cards, birth certificates. we have a safe, maybe you can get a small safe if you don't already have one.

I'm sure staples, or office max have cc wallets, or use a business card holder

I don't keep much in terms of paper files but I DO have a particular file with our most important documents: birth certificates, ss cards, passports, insurance certs, etc. I would put any cards I don't use in a ziploc bag and slip them in that file.
Now some people would say it's not a good idea to keep all that stuff in one place (and they are probably right) but it works for me, especially if we ever had an emergency. I like that I know exactly where that stuff is and that I could grab it and go quickly.
You may also want to close some of those accounts out. The more you have the more vulnerable you are to fraud and identity theft. My husband and I have only two credit cards each, total four accounts, in addition to two separate checking accounts. It's always been more than enough for us.

I keep all of the important papers etc... in a fireproof lock-box. The cards I use regularly I keep in my wallet.

Altoid tins work well.

They also make wallets just for cards... Maybe hit up the wallet section of a few stores and see if you can find something that fits your needs.

I just put them all in a rubber band and put them in a drawer. I carry just the ones I use on a regular basis. If I'm going out shopping to a specific store, then I take that reward card and store credit card with me. Most reward cards work off a phone number or can be looked up with a driver's license, so if needed just ask the cashier. For a store credit card, they can look up your account number if you have a valid picture id.

There's no need to lock them up in a safe or other area unless you have family issues.

Of it's not on my fob, I don't use it (rewards).
For CCards, use a business card portfio.

For reward cards - get the key ring app for your smart phone (it's free), scan in all your reward cards, and throw them away.

For credit cards, cancel all the ones you don't really use. For your emergency credit card (you probably only need 1 of these), do you have a small safe where you keep birth certificates, etc? If so, put it there.

Most of my rewards cards are linked to a phone number, so I do not have to have the card with me. I put the library cards (from 3 libraries) on my key ring.

For some reason I still have way too many in my wallet (from the punch card for a slice of pizza to the frozen yogurt punch card). I do not carry checks, so my wallet has extra space. The sleeve where that check book was supposed to go is where I put all these cards. It seems like every restaurant and store has a rewards card.

After having gone through a big move recently, I would highly recommend getting a storage safe and storing all of your critical personal items in it.

As for the cards, I would go to target and buy a wallet.

And then make sure the wallet gets in the safe.

And the safe is small enough you can move yourself. :-)

Good luck! Moving is soooooo stressful. Remember to take time for yourself and your family.

Take care. :-)
