Stomach Problems - Spring,TX
My stomach has been hurting like crazy. I have "episodes" where my stomach is hurting so bad- my tummy gets hard like a rock, I have weird BM, throw up and then if it gets really bad I'm will sorta of pass out for a few seconds and have a cold sweat. My mother and grandmother had thier gallbadder taken out- Do you think that's what's happening to me. As I said I have episodes of my stomach hurting for a few days then almost like nothing it will go away and I forget about it and don't go to the doctor b/c I feel fine.
So what do ya'll think????
Thanks to all of ya'll for taking time out to answer

I went to the doctor today and she has schedule an Ultrasound on Sat @8am so will see what turns up.
She tells me it's either gallstones or IBS.
Again thanks for wonderful support.

Had my gallbadder remover yesterday. I'm doing well just a bit stiff and in a pain. Hopefully I'll be better soon.

I would definitely see a doctor soon! It could very well be gallstones; a couple of my family members had "some" of those symptoms and had their gallbladder removed. They are great now! Let everyone know once you've found out the problem. Good luck to you and hope everything is okay.

Well, I had mine taken out last year and my husband got his taken out a few months before that. The pain was right under the ribcage on the right side and felt as if it pierced through to my back. There was nausea/vomiting, kinda diarrhea-like BMs...sound familiar? You really should see the doctor or go to the ER when you have this pain. I hope this helps.

I know of several people who have had similar symptoms that ended up having gallstones, so you best get it checked out. I have heard that it's difficult to diagnose, but since there's a history, maybe that makes a difference? Either way, I hope you figure out what's wrong and feel better soon!

L....Wow, that sounds like me a year ago, I was vomiting green bile and was sweating and freezing all at the same time. I couldnt get comfortable and It was so bad I had to go to the ER, it was my gaul bladder. you may want to have your MD give you an ultrasound. Sounds like that may be the cause, but Im no doctor....Good luck!

It does sound suspiciously like a gall bladder issue, but since you never know, definitely go get it checked out as soon as possible.

Sounds like IBS symptoms to me - I had it most of my life. Google irritable bowel syndrome and see what you think.

I had serious stomach pains that came and went for two years. It would get so bad that I would just lie in the floor. Right before I went to the hospital with it and then into emergency surgery my husband came home and I had crawled to the fridge and was just handing things to my daughter to eat cause I couldn't stand up to feed her. Turns out my appendix was bad and I had two huge cysts on my ovaries that had hardened (most of the pain seemed to be when I was supposed to be ovulating). My husband also had serious pain about a year later and rushed him in and he had gang green in his pancreas and was very close to dying, he had been having stomach pains for a while just wouldn't go to the dr. I'm telling you this cause in a years time both my husband and I were rushed into emergency surgeries in the middle of the night and it is not nice, so it is best to go in and explain the symptoms and get checked. I know though I hate going to the dr. and that was why I kept putting it off. On the bright side of it I was back on my feet in 2 days and back working (as a waitress at the time) in 4. The first table I had back happened to be the anesthesiologist who recognized me and chewed me out. It took my husband over 2 weeks though.
Seriously though, the midnight surgeries are not fun and are a whole lot more expensive than a simple office visit to rule out minor things. The gall bladder deals with bile and I think if something is wrong with it you may start passing a black slimy substance. But I wouldn't hold me to that one, might want to go look it up on WebMd just to get an idea of what the symptoms are for gall bladder problems.
