Hi everyone i need a little help... Lately ive been having these pains in my lower right abdomen. At first i thought it was due to my period. Well that has come and gone and i still get those pains. When i lay down and press on my stomach the pain is worse. its not consistant when standing up. sometimes they appear when i pick up my son. I just need some help determining wheather or not it could be a cycts(SP) or the starting of apendicitis. If anyone else has had this please help.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I had an appointment with my ob/gyn yesterday. She said everything felt fine when she examined me. Since i dont have a main primare care provider she is sending me to have an internal ultrasound done. I have an appointment today at 11:30. Wish me luck. Also if any one else has had this done, is it painful and what should i expect? Thank you so much to everyone that has responed.

I've had and still have Cysts. They suck and are very painful. I've had them removed, but they keep coming back worse than before, even though i've had my tubes tied, i'm not ready to loose my ovaries :) If it were an apendicitis, i'm sorry to say but it would have made you very sick or you could have died from it. I've had one of those too, and those are more painful. I would def. go to the doctor's, it may be cysts, or what the woman said before me, a gall bladder problem. That may be my next step also, because i suffer from Chronic Pelvic Pain and after they treat me for one thing they think it is, it ends up not being the problem, so hopefully someday, they'll find my issue :) Good Luck!!!

I usually ignore pain unless it's extremely bad. If it bothers you then see a doctor. I don't think a regular cyst causes much pain. And the apendix hurts on the opposite side, but I don't know which side it's on. You try going to WebMD.com and give your symptoms. That should be of some help. If you feel like it's serious then definately go to a doc.

Hi C.,

I would recommend seeing a physician. It could possibly be the start of appendicitis. Its better if you could get it looked at, for if the appendix rupture, it is not a good thing. Good luck.

C., C., C.. Go to the doctors today! You are correct thinking the lower right abdomen is the area where an apendicitis can occur. There are three major tests for an apendicitis which can help you out a lot. Fever, Nausea and/or Vomiting, and Rebound Pain. Rebound pain means if you lay down and press on the quadrant, does it hurt more when you press down or when you let go. If it hurts more when you let go, then that is rebound pain and you should get to the docs AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! I had a girlfriend if High School who blew off the pain till she collapsed. As the ambulance was wheeling her into the ER, the apendix burst and she had to have emergency surgery. Don't ignore this. If it is something minor, better to have tested negative for something serious than be dead.

Don't wait to make an appointment at your Dr's. There's no way that any of us would be able to tell you what's wrong. It could be anything from stress to gall bladder to appendicitis. Put yourself first this week and make a call. Get yourself in for an appt.

I had similar pain after my daughter was born and it gradually got more and more painful. I ignored it until a year later when I had my pap smear. I ended up at a specialist before it was all over to find out I had an infection in my uterus from when Eden was born. A week's worth of prescription later, all pain was gone. It wasn't anything serious, just painful and certainly worth having diagnosed sooner rather than later! Good luck!

Hi C....it sounds like you may have gall stones...or a problem with your gall bladder. An ultrasound should find any problems..either way, definitely go to your doctor right away as you never know it could be something more serious.
Good luck and let us know how you make out sweetie!

I wouldn't ignore it , ectopic pregnancies, advanced bladder infections and appendicitis , can all cause pain like this. It could be nothing, but the fact that laying down and pressing makes it worse is enough to warrent a call to the Doctor. Be safe and go have it checked out, please.

C.,

I would definately call the dr. I had the same thing and mine ended up being a very large cyst, but they first checked my appendix and gall bladder. They immediately did an ultrasound to figure out what was wrong.

I myself also had some minor pain on the right side of my abdomen, however, it also went around to my back. It turned out I had a gall bladder infection. If you notice that you are having more pain as the days go by definitely get in contact with your Dr. I waited too long and had to get mine taken out. This is worst case scenario but be aware of what the possibilities are. Good luck and let us know how you make out.
