I was wondering how often your kids get the stomach flu? I am trying to determine what is common?

What can I do next?

The stomach flu seems to be prevalent around this time of year. My daughter has had it twice, my son one time. I know some parents who have kids that get it once or maybe twice a year.

Probably depends on how often they are expsoed to a virus. If they are exposed early, they get it and if they are not, they get it more once they go to school. Mine did not get it every time it was going around school, but sometimes. Mine don't get it every year, but having three of them, some one did! Some are worse than others, and they sweep through the whole family, some don't.

Mine usually end up w/it as frequently as they are exposed to it. I don't mean by brushing up next to someone at the store, but by someone who is actively sick or at someone's house who is or just was. To me the common case would be 3 out of 5 times - if not more :( & that would be w/doing the whole lyesol thing & all because one the germs reers it's head it's all over.

My daughter is 5yrs old and has never had it. I'm 36 and have never had it that I know of (maybe when I was too little to remember?) My husband and I have been together for almost 13yrs and he's never had it in that time.

We better not get it now!

My kids are typically pretty healthy. A cold here and there and the flu only occasionally. But one year, when the flu season was particulary bad, my oldest son (then in 5th grade) got the stomach flu FIVE times. He had it once a month starting in August. I was very concerned that something more was going on. His doctor told me that they were seeing quite a few similar cases. That because they were several different strains of the bug going around, he would get over one case of the flu only to catch the next one going around because his immune system was still a little weak from the previous case. She did say that if he were to get sick AGAIN (for the 6th time) she would run blood tests to rule out anything else but it never came to that. We did decide to get him the flu shot even though the shot was not supposed to fend off the stomach flu (always what he'd get) but maybe that helped? Anyhow, that was the one and only time that has happeneded to us and I have three other children and my son is now in 10th grade. :0)

My oldest is 7 and had a stomach bug 2x in his life but has only thrown up once in his life, he has his Dad's strong stomach!

Middle child is 5 and had it 2x and puked both times.

Youngest is almost 3 and just had it last week...her first time throwing up:(

I hate the stomach flu!

I am 33 and have only had the stomach flu with puking 1x (that I can remember) and that was as an adult!

It depends on how often he gets exposed to it at school.

Once a year at the most. My daughter is 8 and hasn't been sick for years - can't even remember the last time - maybe 4 years old? I would think at least once a year though would be common.
