I'm sorry you are having a hard time. We've been trying since January so I can understand your frustration. It took us a year to get pregnant with our daughter. From what I've read, it takes most healthy couples several months to get pregnant. My doctor wouldn't do any tests or anything until we had tried for a year with our daughter. I know this is hard to do (and I have to remind myself each month) try to relax. The month we conceived my daughter was the first month in MONTHS we actually enjoyed ourselves. It had became a game of, wait for my period to see if I'm pregnant, wait for me to ovulate to we could try to make a baby, then wait for the day I could use the home pregnancy test. It's frustrating and not always fun!
Know you are not alone! I also agree, start tracking your periods and use the ovulation predictors on babycenter.com or babyzone.com.

I wanted to add one more thing. Firtilityfriend is a great site, but they do have a limited free membership. Someone on here mentioned MyMonthlyCycles.com and I LOVE it. They send reminders when you are going to ovulate and other helpful thing. Thought I would share!

Sorry, I thought about one more thing =o) Have you had your thyroid checked? My sister-in-law had two miscarriages and then found out she had thyroid cancer. She got that taken care of and was pregnant a couple months later. I have a hypo thyroid and didn't realize I wasn't taking my medication regularly, once I started I got pregnate a couple months later. For some reason I always forget that part.

I understand your pain. It took us a year and a half to get pregnat with my son. each month i got my period i would cry and be sad for a few days. We had testing done and nothing was wrong. IT can just a long time. I agree with the other mommies. Try to relaxe and have fun trying. When we gave up an trying is when i got pregnat. Figureing out when you ovulate is a good place to start. you can at least norrow down when a good time to try is.
Good luck

Be sure to research how to conceive a boy, lol. I see that is what you are shooting for. Two of my friends have 3 girls, and one has 4 boys.

I have heard of fertility massage for the woman. I also had no problems with my first but when we decided to conceive my second, it did not happen for 4 months. We stopped trying and I got preggo, lol.

Also, google Alternative Medicine: Conceiving a child (or fertility issues).

It took us 3 years to have our third. That was such a surprise after the first 2 were so easy. I really thought that was it. Then I started tracking ovulation to see if I was and found out my cycle was all over the place ovulating at different times. This helped us time things better and bingo I got pregnant. Now that child is almost 3 and we thought for sure that was it and were a little to relaxed thinking it would take great effort to have another and surprise , baby #4 is almost here. So hang in there. It can happen. Relax, follow your ovulation and if you believe, Gods plan and timeing is perfect!

I know it seems like an eternity but you’ve only been trying for 2-3 months. You’re still very early in the game. My doctor told me when I started trying that you only have about a 1 in 4 chance of getting pregnant each month so unless you’ve been trying since May 2007 it’s a little early to start worrying.

As for your specific questions, yes age and medication could be a factor. But 34 isn’t 44. The complications related to age for a 34 year old woman usually don’t hinder the ability to get pregnant. And without knowing what medication’s your husband is on it’s hard to say what effects they might be having (though you should find out if its safe for him to be on these meds while trying to conceive go to http://www.drugs.com/ to check.)

I will give you the same advice I give everyone about conceiving:
1. track your cycles. If they are regular then you’re probably in good shape to get pregnant
2. monitor your cervical mucous: this is the cheapest and easiest way to determine when you’re ovulating
3. drink a cup of green tea every day and stay hydrated: doing both helps keep your cervical mucous more swimmable

Good luck and if you can go on a vacation, it really is the best fertility treatment

I'm sorry it's taking you a while to conceive baby #3. I understand your frustration... it took us over 14 months to get pregnant with our son.

I highly recommend checking out www.fertiliyfriend.com... charting your temperatures and checking for fertile signs can really help you to get a better understanding of your cycles and know exactly when the best times to conceive are. I've charted since 2005 (working on baby #2) so if you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them. Also there's a book out there called Taking Charge of your Fertility. It's supposed to be very good. That website I mentioned has a ton of information, even an online course... so if you don't feel like getting the book that site should be able to answer any questions you may have. Also you get 3 months of free VIP.

Good luck and I hope it happens quickly for you.

Hi S. -

As my husband and I learned after trying to get pregnant for 6 years, also with no money for fertility treatments, the gastro-intestinal system is so closely connected to the production of fertility hormones. Most of the reponses you've received to your query focused on what you can do to 'take control of your fertility', and those are all excellent suggestions. But I can also contribute from my experience that getting control of one's digestive health can make the difference. So perhaps the focus can be expanded to iunclude your husband's personal health.

Don't know the effect of the medications your husband is taking, but those combined with other stress/dietary factors could be supressing his natural fertility. Check out http://www.healthandage.com/html/res/com/ConsConditions/P... for some pretty specific suggestions about how to heal/control ulcers without medication, and then decide if you'd like to pursue alternative treatments for your husband's stomach problems.

From my own experience, I highly recommend changing diet and getting acupuncture - we made radical changes, felt fantastic for the first time in years, and then got pregnant in 3 months without even thinking about it! I can recommend my acupuncturist in Berkeley if you like.

Compare the cost of making dietary changes and getting 2-3 months of weekly acupuncture to the cost of all the medications, and what could turn out to be a lifetime of taking them, plus potential surgery, plus future missed work, plus, plus, plus....

Best wishes to you!

Keep a thermometer next to your bed, along with a paper and pen. The second you wake up in the morning (before moving around or getting out of bed), take your temp. (by mouth, or ear depending on your therm.) write it down. It should be close to the same every morning. On the day you ovulate it will rise somewhat and stay there until your period starts again. The day it rises is when you're ovulating so get busy, asap! This is usually around day 12-15, but can vary. Approx. two weeks later you'll either get your period again and your temp will drop back down, or your temp will stay up and you'll find out you're pregnant! Also, you should start taking prenatal vitamins right away. My Dr. said even up to a year ahead of conception they can help. Good Luck!

it took me 9 months to concieve my first baby and 3 months for my second, with 8 years of NOT trying in between.. I think the best advise is to just relax.Thats what most people told me, good luck.
