Still Bleeding After 3 Months

I am wanting to know if there is anyone out there with the same problem. I had my daughter 3 & 1/2 months ago and am still bleeding. It is not heavy most of the time except for an occassional gush maybe every three-four weeks for an hour. My doc performed a dnc 2 weeks ago thinking that would stop the bleeding. It did for one day. Yeah!! then it started right back up to me going through 1-2 pads a day. She also had me try birth control which didn't change to blood flow at all. I am also breast feeding and the milk supply didn't change with the birth control. My doc told me to stop the birth control and take cytotec for two days. I am going to try that and hopefully it will stop. Has anyone else tried cytotec. My doc said she has never seen this in the 15 years that she has been practicing. She is also looking at having a blood test drawn to check for clotting disorders and she is sugesting I maybe look into mirena which I am a little skeptical about.

What can I do next?

I have actually heard of it. My friend had her's for about a year after she had her second child. She got an iud and still stayed on hers. She then had to take birth control along with the iud. She did eventually get the iud removed and stayed on birth control for a while until it finally regulated.

When I had my oldest daughter I bled for 6 months. I was breast feeding so my dr had put my on a low estrogen birth control pill so as not to cut down my milk supply. When she found out that I was still bleeding she put me back on my regular birth control it stopped almost immediately. Hope this helps.

I bled for at least 3 months and my doc wasn't to concerned because it wasn't super heavy. I did feel like I got a little weak from it, but it eventually stopped. I think some peoples bodies just have a hard time recovering.

Hi A.,

GET A SECOND OPINION!!!!! I would look for another doctor.

after i had my lil girl i got the mirena. let me tell u i did nothing but bleed for 3 months straight mu doc kept telling me it was norm. i called the company they said it wasnt. if i was u avoid that all together. try taking birth control pills or even start with the shots for about 6 months then switch to the pill that is finally how i got mine to stop.BUT PLEASE AVOID THE MIRENA. it aint what it is cracked up to be. hope this helps u some.

I'm not sure the Mirena would help. I had it put in at my 6 week follow up after having a baby and have not stopped bleeding since (5 weeks). The doctor did tell me that the first 3 months would be irregular, but if using Mirena is supposed to be your solution, I'm not sure it would be helpful to stop the bleeding!

Hello, A.! I completely understand how frustrated you must be! I have 3 children, and bled for what seemed like forever with each of them. With my 1st 2 I was told to wait it out. With the 3rd, I became anemic. My doctor put me on birth control pills, which I took 2 a day for 10 days. What that did was basically "restart" my internal clock. It worked! This might be something worth mentioning to your doctor. However, if you are breatfeeding, birth control pills tend to dry up your milk supply. Good luck!

if your doctor has never seen it then I would ask for a second opinion. This is your body and your baby needs you to be there so please seek out another doctor just for this issue.

Sounds like you need to go see another Dr. and get a second opinion. Are you taking any form of birth control? I know this can cause bleeding as well. Are you nursing? All of these things can contribute. Best of luck!
