Hi i wonder if you can help me i had a c-section 4 weeks ago and had a healthy twins , the surgery itself went really well and i only lost 500ml of blood during the operation. ihave been bleeding for over 4 weeks now. At first my period started off red but then went brown and near enough stopped after a week and a half but since then ihave continued to bleed its now a bright red colour ihave also noticed clots when i go to the toilet. Can you tell me if this is some thing to worry about? and when im likely to stop bleeding.

Sounds pretty normal. I think I bled for about 5 weeks after my section. The only time they say to be concerned is if clots are really big (can't remember the size, but I remember it being a large size like a baseball or something). It still can never hurt to call your doctor.

I bled for 5 weeks or so after my c-section. Congratulations on your twins. :-)

You can bleed for up to 6 weeks after childbirth, but some never bleed after a c-section. I didn't. If you are concerned, you need to call your ob.

I bled for 6 weeks after both of my c-sections. I remember telling my best friend that I wish someone had told me that was going to happen. I was so happy to not have a period for 9 months, but no one told me I'd have a 6-week long period afterwards. It was awful.

Congratulations on your 2 new little bundles of joy!

Blessings,
N.
