Steam Press as Opposed to an Iron

Have any of you used a steam press? I tried to pull up reviews and found very few and youtube only seems to offer commercials. Both my husband and I wear pressed shirts and ironing them 9" at a time is just not cutting it. I used to take them to the cleaners, but we had to cut back. I don't want to spend the money if it is going to be one more thing tossed in the garage. If you have one, where did you purchase it and how do you like it?

What can I do next?

Get a steam press! I love it! I saw it on hsn one day and decided I had to have one. It's great for dress shirts etc, but you will find yourself doing alot more with it. Both of my kids wear uniforms to school and with the steam press I can press all their clothes for the week in under ten minutes, i could nvr do that with an iron. The one I got from HSN cost 249 dollars and its not that big, its a decent size, but not so large that I have problems storing it.

To be honest, I would think that ironing the shirts yourself or taking them to the laundry mat would be cheaper, even in the long run than buying some gizmo that you may or may not get the hang of. I have a mangle and never use it, and I iron for people.

Check the newspaper for people who iron, I get lots of customers from there. They are usually more competitive too since they can see each others prices.

We LOVE ours! We haven't hauled out the ironing board and iron in years. My husband uses it every day. It also really cuts down on the dry cleaning. We did have a Conair or Remington -can't remember- at first, and it lasted about a year, but then we got a really nice one and it does a great job and has lasted and continued to perform well. Ours is the Jiffy Steamer.

It's MUCH easier to use than an iron and ironing board (not that any of it is rocket science) -and takes up almost no space. All you do is fill the well with water, turn it on and then hold the steam handle close to the item of clothing while the wrinkles disappear!

I have the little hand-held SteamBuddy which works great for sweaters or other hard to iron items, or for just a wrinkle or two. I wouldn't use it to iron a whole shirt, it's too small.
