Steam Mop - Sacramento,CA
Hi Mamas,
I'm thinking about getting a steam mop and wanted to know if any of you had experience with them.
Do they really clean better/easier than tradional mop or swiffer? Any brand you reccomend?
Thanks ladies,
T.

So What Happened?™
I ended up getting the Shark Steam Pocket. It actually wasn't my first choice, but the only choices in stores were the Shark models and a couple of cheap knockoffs. I used it yesterday on my kitchen and bathroom floors and I'm very happy. The floors got really, clean and I love that I didn't have to use chemicals.
Thanks for your help, Ladies.
T.

I bought a Haan steam sanitizer and LOVE it! I bought the additional short handle so that I can steam my counters and around the toilet. It works fast and there is no chemical residue. I bought the two extra cleaning pads (it comes with 2 already) and found that the extras aren't necessary if I'm only cleaning one or two rooms at a time.
I chose the Haan over the Shark because of the positive reviews I read on amazon.com. Good luck!

I just bought the Haan steam mop and really liked the results! It's very easy to use and cleans fast without a lot of effort. Small, lightweight and easy to store. So far, so good!

Hi T., I bought the Shark steam mop last year. It does a so so job. I would look into it a little more. The one I bought was only $80, but if I had to do it again, I would upgrade to a little more expensive one. Good Luck

Greetings T.: I know that you have recieved several responces to your request.
I just as the mother of a special needs child, Who has Dyslexia and Aspberger's Syndrome. I want to Thank You, and all the teachers like you that are trying to help the children that have to fight their way through life and hit all the rough patches along the way.
It takes extra education and it takes someone with a special ability to do this work.
Our son, unfortunetly was not blessed to have these two disabilities discovered while still in elementry school- they just knew aboutthe Auditory Dyslexia and the ADD- it was after much testing and trial and great error on our parts that the rest was discovered. But he had wonderful teachers all along the way that did a great job and gave him the encouragement he needed to achieve his very best.
So good luck in your choice of mops--- and greater good luck in the job field that you have choosen. Nana Glenda

I have the Shark steam mop. I bought the cheapest one. I am very happy that it kills 99% of germs without any type of cleaner--just water.
The only thing I would recommend is that you buy extra pads. I use two just for our kitchen floor (maybe a 10x10 foot area), otherwise the dirt starts getting pushed around.

I have the Shark and it works well. I received one in December and it stopped working in July/August (it just stopped, no power, nothing). I took it back to Bed, Bath and Beyond and it was a super simple exchange. I do have to say, I don't mop my floors too often (once every other week), so it takes a few pads to clean all my floors (also, when the pads are brand new, they are too "slick" and don't pick up much dirt - I've had to wash them a few times to get them warn-in.). I always felt with the Swiffer mop and a regular mop, I was just pushing yucky dirt around. Now at least it's sanitized dirt (LOL)!

Hi!
We use the Shark Steam Mop everyday at our Gymboree sites but recently two of them have stopped working. They do a great job on the mats and I suspect the only reason they stopped working is because of the heavy daily use that they get. I'll be interested in seeing if anyone else recommends a better steam mop because I love the use of steam to clean but want to know if there's something more durable than the Shark steamer (because of our daily use).

I bought the shark steam mop a few years ago....used it a few times & found it to be a piece of junk....overpriced too & then the customer service was horrible & made it impossible to return it....I read the other responses & am surprised to see a few good reviews....I might just break it out again & give it another go....will let you know if I do & if my opinion changes. Good luck, the idea is good but in my opinion, you get what you pay for & the more you pay the better quality you will get...
