OK this may seem really silly but how in the world do I get the static electricity out of my hair? Tried hairspray, static cling, using a different brush, wetting it with water. it just comes right back!!! Seems to be worse after I have been in my car with leather seats. its driving me nuts!!!
The kid's shampoo section has a spray-on detangler which is also used for static - i use it on my daughter and her hair stops floating out in space immediately.
I have taken a dryer sheet and rubbed it on my hair and it really seems to take the static out. Worth a try, anyway! :) Good luck!
Have you tried rubbing a dryer sheet through your hair? They are designed to get rid of static cling - plus I have heard this trick works by several sources over the years.
Leave in conditioner just a lightweight spray type will work. Also spray your floor boards of your car with static guard and wipe the seats down with a leather conditioner.
I read this trick in a beauty magazine... get a spray bottle and mix water and liquid fabric softener 4:1 and spray a little on your hair after your shower when it is still wet. I do it all the time and it works very well. It never makes my hair icky either. Then just dry and style as usual.
I have long fine hair and was frustrated with static. I have used BioSilk for years. The best price for the Silk drops is the package at Target and you get the shampoo and conditioner. I only use about a quarter size of silk drops after towel drying my hair. I use year round to keep my hair smooth and static free. Also has helped greatly with tangles at back of my neck. The silk drops will outlast the shampoo and conditioner. I continue using the silk drops with whatever shampoo and conditioner I have. Price on amazon.com is good but sometimes you can find the package deal at target for not much more.

I had static at work one day and a coworker put somw lotion on her hands and rub it in slightly then barely passed her hands over my hair. It worked great in a pinch since I always have lotion on my desk or in my purse.
I use the Purex 3 in one sheets when I do laundry. They actually have an "anti static" ingredient in them. I have found them to work very well as I too usually have serious static issues! :)
Static is usually the result of hair that needs conditioning. I always had static hair in the winter monthes til years ago when I started using a leave-in conditioner. I use the rinse out conditioner on my ends then use the leave-in after I've towel dried my hair.
My grandmother use to rub a dryer sheet on my head and it always worked. I would just carry one in my purse. :)
In the winter time the heater takes all the humidity out of the house. Either buy a humidifier and run it at night when you are home or put a big pot of water on the stove and leave it on med low or low. I always leave the hood light on when I have the stove on, so I don't forget it. It helps with the hair and keeps me from zapping my hubby and the fur babies in the house.
I use an old spray bottle and mix a few drop of conditioner and water. Then I use this to spray my hair. It works great for getting tangles out as well. Or try rubbing a dryer sheet on your hair.

Aveda has some products - humectant or something like that. It basically is a balm that you apply to dry hair and keeps it from curling or getting staticky. You might be able to by something at the grocery store; however, I know that Aveda has several diff products.
For sure, use conditioner every time you wash your hair (my hubby doesn't then wonders why his hair is staticky) Try your kid's spray-in detangler. Or put hair product in your hair like gel or styling paste. They'll weigh your hair down some.
I agree with Michelle... run a dryer sheet through your hair (I keep one in my purse too, and in my 2 daughters backpacks)... knocks the static right out, and makes you smell pretty :)
also try using the leather conditioning wipes on your seat (you can get the cheap ones from Target) so it will also condition the seat and not make it so staticy . ..
Also try running a humidifier in your bedroom or house during these really dry months. I think a lack of moisture can bring on static which is why its worse in the winter Im sure! It will also help your skin stay moist and keep your lips from becoming chapped!
You may want to try a hair product that is an anti-frizz product, even tho your hair may not be "frizzy", or some type of pomeade.
My coat gives my hair static! Its one of those down parkas so check your coat. Try wearing a different jacket & see if your hair still has static. They sell Static Guard too, you could spray a little of that on your hair, like hairspray.
