Staph Infection - Aurora,CO

My 19 month old Daughter developed a staph infection at the end of October, she had 2 boils on her back. her doctor gave her 3 perscriptions, she finished them and the infection cleared up. I had to take her to the doctor again yesterday and I noticed another boil on her wrist. she is on 2 antibiotics. I don't know why she keeps getting these. I keep my house very clean and she eats healthy. I am just so drained. Has anyone experienced this?

What can I do next?

Did you recently get a kitten? Some animals are carriers, especially cats and kittens, and they can spread it to us when they scratch.
There is evidence that garlic is an effective treatment for infection, maybe increasing your daughters garlic intake and even cutting a garlic clove in half and rubbing it on the infection can help.

J., my dad got a staph infection over thanksgiving and had to have antibiotics givin through an IV for about 3 weeks, and how he is still taking antibiotics by mouth for a few more weeks. They are bad! and take forever to clear up! They say that people can get these infections from just a tiny cut. I dont' think it has anything to do with cleanliness or healthyness...so, it's not your fault! :) Good luck, they are horrible infections!

You may also want to have thenm check for a yeast infection as well, both down there and in the month. Or maybe the doctors need to do a little more research to find out why they are reappearing on different parts of her body.

Staph is Staphylococcus bacteria what your daughter is probbaly suffering from is an infection caused by Staphylococcus aureus. (it may not be Staph aureus but more likely than not it is) Staph aureus is a natural bacteria on the skin and can get in to even the smallest cut. It has little to do with how clean you are it just lives there. Some types of infections can be very hard to get rid of and may need to be medically treated by IV antibiotics. However if you get rid of all the bacteria it could cause many more problems. This bacteria can be healthy for your skin. If your daughter is prone to infections you may want keep the areas clean (the ones that are most commonly infected). I am sure you have heard of all the good bacterias. I would suggest having a close relationship with you doctor. If you are not getting any where then get a second opinion. It does need attention. Dont take it lightly. I have also heard taking a vinager bath every once in a while helps. Try once a week. Wikipedia.com has some good articles on this subject as well.

I hope everything goes better for you! Good luck!
M.
