Stains on Concrete Driveway
anyone have any experience with(or can ask auto hubbies about) transmission fluid stains on a COLORED stamp concrete driveway. it just happened last night. we cleaned up the oil, tried dawn, but the stain is still very bad. is there any effective way to get it out. im so sick about it, we paid alot of money for the driveway, and its a brand new house. now it looks awful:(
ETA thanks for the sugetions, kep them coming, lol. after i posted, i put a thick layer of dawn all over the stain and scrubbed away and just left it there. today and for the next three days it will be raining so im just letting the rain rinse away the soap and will be trying the suggestions. with the rain i wont be able to let anything sit, so im going to have to wait to try the suggestions which is going to drive me nuts!

try WD-40 or Lestoil. I am not certain that either of those would work, just what came to mind. Certainly try a small spot first! I'm also wondering if you might need to absorb the fluid that has soaked into the concrete first. Kitty litter? Maybe you can call the concrete company and see what they might recommend. Good luck!

A.,
There is a product on the market that will take it out. A Consumer Direct Marketing company puts it out. Please send me an e-mail with your phone number and we'll set you up with the link so that you can see if it's something you want to do

I don't know if this will work, but try Awesome Orange cleaner. It works on some off the toughest grease. It's really great in the kitchen and it rinses easy. It truely is awesome just like my sister said. I buy it at a dollar store, not sure if it is the dollar tree, or dollar general. Very inexpensive, let me know if it works.

kitty litter should absorb the stain

My hubby does concrete and asphalt driveways for a living. he says it's going to be hard to get up but the best way is to cover it in kitty litter. Let it absorb the oil for a few days - a week. Most, if not all of the oil should come up with the kitty litter.

Try Simple Green or go to an auto parts store and see if they can recommend something.

I don't know about transmission fluid, but we used muriatic acid to clean oil stains from a driveway once. We lived in military housing and even though we didn't leave the stains, we had to get rid of them. You can get muriatic acid from a pool supply store. It's what is used to clean pools, but it's a very strong chemical, and you don't want to get it on your hands. You should try to contact someone who does colored concrete and ask if it's safe for the coloring. It did a beautiful job on the driveway my husband had to clean.
