Stains in Toddler Clothes

My 13-month-old has quite of few articles of clothing with stains on them, and I really wish I could make the clothes look good again. Most of the stains seem to be dirt related (usually in the knee area), and they won't come out. A few are food stains. Banana stains seems to be the most difficult. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What can I do next?

I've never tried it on bananas specifically but my all time favorite stain remover is original blue Dawn dish soap. It gets out everything, doesn't leave a residue and doesn't harm the fabric. As soon as we notice the stain, we put it on and leave it until the next time I do laundry. Depending on the stain, sometimes we rinse it first.

Oxyclean always does the trick for me. Saturate the areas, rub it in, and let it soak for at least an hour. Good luck!

My mother also swear by the original "blue" Dawn dish soap.

I use only Tide with Bleach Alternative for my laundry. For stains, I just pour a little extra on the stains a few mins before laundering. Works for us!

I used to use OxyClean on my son's clothes because of the stains, but it ended up really irritating his skin over time. Now, I rub a DRY bar of Ivory soap on the stains right before I put it in the washer. I push kind of hard to really get the soap in the fibers -- kind of scrub back and forth. Works great for most stains. I even got red ink out of a pair of jeans this way -- took a couple washes but it worked.

I posted this question on here several years ago because I couldn't get old formula stains out of clothes. What works for me is Shacklee brand. You have to buy it online, but they're awesome. I get the Basic H2 cleaner and then the laundry brightening powder. Put the H2 on the clothes, then rub the brightening powder in with a tooth brush. Let it sit 2-4 hours, then wash it with soap as you normally would in the washer. It gets everything out, old formula, blood, food. Just be careful not to leave the powder on too long or it bleaches the colors.

I am not sure if it works with dirt, but I know that it works with every kind of food stain, including foods like coffee that have oils in them. Amway's SA-8 spot remover. It is a spray can, and you spray the area and then wash as usual. It is pretty amazing stuff. I have a large bust, and it seems to be a food and drip catcher, and I got tired of having to throw out tee shirts and blouses because of food stains - Good luck
