Stain Remover

The only suggestion I can give is something that works great for candle wax and might just work for vaseline too. Although after having been washed the stain may be set.....wax paper on the stain and then an iron on low to medium. It soaks up the "greasy" stuff and has worked great for whites that I have spilled colored candle wax on!

Try Zout. It's in a red bottle. You can get it at both Walgreens and Walmart. I haven't found anything it doesn't take out yet. I even put a coffe stain in the drier and Zout took it out.

I use Goop. It can be found in any chain store like Walmart or the Dollar Store. If it in not in the laundry section look in automotive. I swear by this stuff for every thing from arm pit stains, formula stains to oil and grease stains. It is actually the ONLY thing that I use for stain removal. Just rub it onto the stain let it sit for 30 min. or over night depending on how bad the stain is and launder as usual. This has even taken oil stains out of a shirt that has been laundered and put in the dryer a number of times before I tried the Goop. It took the oil out on the first try.

Make a paste of Dawn dish soap and oxy-clean. Let it sit for a couple of hours and then wash. hang dry and see if you have to do it again. Good luck!

Have you tried Dawn dish soap? The other thing that I use when my husband gets grease on his shirts is Mary Kay eye makeup remover. Works everytime.

Just an FYI - I don't know how it works on grease... What I usually do with bad stains and oxyclean is I spray it with the Oxyclean spray and then sprinkle the Oxyclean powder directly on the stain. Then let it sit for a few hours before washing it. I don't do the whole "soak in solution" thing for bad stains. My husband dumped a whole glass of red wine on my new khaki pants and they still looked new after using the oxyclean that way.

Vaseline is a type of grease and HOT HOT (as HOT as you can stand to touch) water and a tooth brush work the best use a little spot shot which is a brand of carpet cleaner to assist. It has worked wonders for me and the book author "Queen of Clean".

I need to share with you that if you are using one OxyClean, please keep reading:

My hubby used to drice semi and deliver the chemicals used in that product. He drove a "HAZMAT!!" truck. There is a chemical in OxyClean that is so potent that it will burn a hole through cement! But, the kicker is that they use 60% or so soda ash to make the chemical less potent. But it is still in your clothes! It takes 16 rinse cycles to rinse the chemicals out. Children's skin is more porous than an adults. Your baby is absorbing the chemicals through his skin. I don't mean to scare you, I just want to educate you so you can make better, safer choices for your family. Lord only know that the govt. isn't going to do it.

If you want to find better, safer, products for your home. Try the Melaleuca Ecosense line! It works great without the chemicals. We have a Sol-U-Mel that is an incredible cleaner! along with the other products.

I use ZOUT. Not Shout...ZOUT. It's gotten out grass stains, old yellow sweat pit stains, blood, BBQ sauce, kool-aid and freezie stains, even when they've sat for days before washing. Good stuff! :)

I copied this off of the internet so I don't know if it works . . .

Take a plastic knife or a butter knife and scrape over the stained area. Bring up as much of the Vaseline as possible.

Nest, use a paper towel or a cloth, wet the cloth with rubbing alcohol and dab at the stained area. You will see a glossy coating and the alcohol will break down the oils in the Vaseline to remove it. Continue this at least three or four times and then go to the next step, as you might not be able to see all the stain when it is wet.

Make a spray mixture of one-cup warm water and a tablespoon of clear bleach free dish liquid. Spray this on the stained area and blot with a clean paper towel to bring up more of the Vaseline.

If you still have a stain, spray the area with peroxide and let it dry. This will break up the stain further. Repeat as needed, letting the clothes dry between applications to completely remove any remaining stains.

Fels Naptha Soap works wonders on all stains. It is a bar of soap and is often (mistakenly) shelved next to body soap in the stores.

Also, Arm & Hammer Washing Soda works great, too. (Not to be confused with baking soda.) It is usually next to the powder laundry detergents. You can make a paste out of it.

I have used StainDevils to get stains like grease out of my clothes. You can usually find these at KMart or Walmart. They make them for, grease, red wine blood and crayons and all sorts of things. They have saved my clothes!!

try Dawn dish soap. Rub it in and let it soak. I've heard Coke also works on grease but I have never tried it!

Dawn dish soap. Try not to dry it in the dryer until you get it out.

Use dish soap directly on the stain- let sit and wash. It works wonders!

I don't know what I'd do with out BIZ. BIZ can be used as a laundry booster or as a stain remover. I've had really good luck soaking all types of stains in BIZ w/water than washing. It has saved many of my boys' outfits.

Have you tried Zout stain remover? It is generally located by the Shout and other stain removers. It takes out almost anything from grease to spaghetti stains with no unpleasant smell or bleaching effect. Good luck!

Hi R., This may sound funny but I have used resolve carpet spot cleaner on all different types of stains and it has worked wonders. Just spray the spot then wash.

I have found that DAWN dish soap or Pepsi/Coke has worked for stains. There seems to be an agent in DAWN that cuts even the toughest stains and Pepsi mechanics use on motors when cleaning the oil and grease off of parts that they are working on. I also use the Pepsi when washing my husband's uniforms.

There's a company called Watkins that makes a degreaser that works wonders - I've sent chapsticks through the dryer and it's melted all over clothes, and the degreaser has gotten the little pink greasy stains out of the clothing even after they've been dried. I think you can do it mail order, otherwise there may be a store in your town that carries it (probably a small store that's individually owned, not a big box store. I know in my hometown it's a mom and pop vacuum store that carry it).

First, stop using Vaseline. Look at the label - it's made from petroleum, the same stuff you put in your car. Why would you put that on your girl's skin?

Everywhere there is non-petroleum based cremes. Changing your product will eliminate the stains. I am afraid that nothing gets petroleum out of clothes... or bodies.

Not sure about the stain, but you might want to check into products that aren't petroleum based.

Try Dawn Dishing washing detergent, not alot or I like Spray n Washes new Dual Power. It has two separate compartments in one bottle that goes together when squirted out. I got this tip from Whoopy on "The View" and it really works. Kinda spendy but it works.

Currently I use Melaleuca products and have found I can get just about anything out using these great products...and they are much safer and environmentally friendly. You have to become a member to buy though.

Before Melaleuca I used ZOUT. Find it at Target as a spray. I know Rainbow used to have it in a bottle, which I prefer. But I have not checked in a long time, so I don't know if they still have it. Zout was initially sold in uniform stores. Gets out blood, etc. If you rub it in and let it soak, I think you'll have success.

As for the vaseline...I don't know what you use it for, but I would look at other options. Good luck!

My Mom has introduced to to this cleaning product called Awesome, and it's just that! I have been able to remove stains from clothes that have been washed many times over. I use it on everything from counter tops to carpet stains. I get it at Family Dollar. Hope this helps!

I know this might sound crazy, but it works for the grease stains on my clothes from the fryer at work!!! Spray the spot with WD40 and let it set for about 15 min to reconstitute the oil that has dried. Then use Dawn dishsoap to break up the grease and wash it away. Try putting Dawn dish soap right on the stain and letting it sit. Rinse it after it sits awhile and then wash again. It almost always takes the "greasy" stains out of my clothes.

Perhaps try Shout. It seems to work for me when I get fish oil from Vietnamese food.

Try dishwashing soap (supposed to remove grease/oil) I've also had some luck using special mineral removing shampoo for hard water (like paul mitchell 3) on mayo based stains on clothing. good luck

any time I get grease type stains I use dish soap and hand scrub it and then goo gone soaked into stain and then washed with laundry. I can get rid of even a set in stain this way and have used it many times on vasoline before and chapstick stains. My husband is famous for leaving chapstick in his pockets and going thru the wash staining the whole load! Ahhhhh!!!! Goo gone can be found almost anywhere and it is sold in pretty small containers. You don't need much and it will last a long time.

Give Dawn dish soap a try. Seems to work on everything in this house!

For greasy stains try Dawn (or any other good brand) dishsoap. Dishsoap is designed to cut through grease!

I have never used this on vaseline but I do everytime I get grease on my clothes, dish soap. It works great on grease, neosporin and Vicks.

I would try using Dawn dish soap. I have used it on grease stains and it has worked relatively well. It is a grease fighter after all. If that doesn't work, you may want to try pouring hot water over the stain from a little bit of a distance (I know this works for jello or koolaid stains). Hope something helps, I know how frustrating it can be!

I use Goo Gone on all my stains! It is a greasy like but it works great. I just squirt it on the spot then put some laundry soap on it and wash sometimes you have to wash a second time with out putting anything on it to get the grease like stain out. I spilt a to go box of buttered noodles down the front of a new navy blue sweatshirt and i goo goned it and washed and the BIG grease stain GONE! It is good for alot of differant stains just check out the bottle.

Goop, the hand degreaser works great for me for many stains. The label even says it's safe for laundry and I've used it for tons of stains. You rub the goop on and let it set for 10 min. or so, then wash. Easy. Wal-mart carries it in the automotive section and sometimes in the laundry section.

This is a weird one, but it has worked for me on both greasy food and garage grease stains that I couldn't get out any other way. A tip from the Queen of Clean, my MIL:

Put lighter fluid on the stain right before you throw it in the wash.

(I know this will incense some of the "all natural" people out there, but it saves clothing when nothing else works.)

I use a spray called Good Off. I find it in the paint department at Fleet Farm. It works even after I have dried the clothes.

Try Spray and Wash with the Resolve Power in it. That stuff is my new best friend when laundry time comes. I have four boys so you can imagine some of the stains I get. My 13 month old had red jello spots on a yellow shirt and it all came out, and he also had a white bib that had spaghetti sauce on it. I sprayed some stuff on it and let it sit for a couple minutes and it all came out. The stuff works wonders!!! It's my new best friend at laundry time. I hope this helps.

How about a hot iron and paper towel to absorb the vaseline?

For anything oily, I always put some dish soap on it. Dishsoap is designed to cut grease! I usually just squirt a bunch on the stain and let it sit for a few minutes, then toss it in the laundry with regular laundry soap.

A product called "Grease-Off" has worked well for us (my kids & DH frequently 'forget' their lip balms/Carmex/etc. in their pockets--I do too much laundry to check every pocket!). You spray it on & wash. It's something that my husband got to use in the garage....

BTW, vaseline is a petroleum product & therefore actually very drying to the human skin. You didn't say exactly what you use it for, but you might want to look into something that actually moisturizes/protects the skin better.

Whatever stain treatment you use, wash the shirt in the hottest water you can. With cotton it may shrink, but washing it in cold water is never going to get the stain out either.

It is good you haven't put it in the dryer yet. Have you tried putting Dawn™ dishwashing liquid on it, let it soak for at least 15 minutes then wash in the warmest water the garment can tolerate. I have had success with this method in the past.

I found a great product a few years ago - it has gotten crayon, lipstick, ink, motor oil and yes, vaseline, and more out of fabrics for me. It is called Disolvit (not sure of spelling without bottle to look at) - kind of an orangy-yellow colored spray stuff. You can find it in the cleaning aisle at WalMart. It is really amazing stuff...I always have three bottles at home - one with my cleaners (gets marks off walls and carpets), one with the laundry and one in the garage (takes tar off cars, works on patio furniture, etc.). It is not too expensive and it is not full of toxic fumes either.

For grease I have a product I use that you can only get through the company I shop with. Good you haven't put it in the dryer. Try something with tea tree oil, that might help. If the vaseline is for dry skin I can help there too. Grease stains are tough.

I have found that if I take the time to wash the stain with Dawn foaming dish wash, that it will get most stains out -especially if they oil based. Hydrogen peroxide works on a lot of stuff, too.
