I just bought a nice used Columbia ski jacket but failed to notice in my haste of shopping with a 3 yr old failed to notice that the white on the backs of the sleeves is all grungy. I am sure it was washed and dryed before it was brought in to the store. I have washed it and then soaked it in Oxy Clean and washed again. Doesn't even fade it. Any secret weapons?

What can I do next?

I've have great success with the Shout Advanced Gel...It says it's formulated for set-in-stains! I usually spray and let dry sometimes a day or so before washing...It's gotten grease stains from cooking out of my shirts I didn't know were there after the first wash a dry..

Someone mentioned peroxide, I've always used that on blood stains, works great as long as you don't let the blood dry (sometimes you might still need to soak the item) If it dries you have a chance you won't get it all out....

Good Luck

Personally I'm an advocate of Lestoil. You can find it in most grocery stores or super stores. It's normally near other cleaning products like Pine-Sol and stuff, or by the laundry detergents. That stuff hasn't failed me once! I've used it to get out oil stains, baby burble, grass stains, stains that were baked in from the dryer...I just pour it directly on the stain, let it sit for a while (sometimes I treat the stain and don't wash the garmet until a day or two later because I forgot about it) then launder like normal. Hope it works for you!

You can try using Spray and Wash 2 in 1. Spray it on the problem area, let it soak for a while, then wash again. If that doesn't help, put it in the sunlight (I know it is disappearing fast these days!). You'd be surprised at what the sunlight will do for your whites! It might take a few days, but whould definitely help!

Good luck!

Hello S., I have saved many garments by pouring liquid tide on the stains and letting set for 24 hours before washing. Even set in stains! I once put my Sunday cloths in the dryer not knowing I had a tube of lipstick in a pocket, what a mess. Lipstick was melted everywhere. Tide did the trick even with that mess. Good luck.

I got blood out with peroxide once. I poured it on the stain, scrubbed it a little, rinsed, and did it until the stain faded and then washed it with detergent and Oxyclean.

I think Martha Stewart recommends soaking your red-wine stained W. tablecloths in W. vinegar before washing. Check her website - not sure if she soaked overnight or just for a little bit. Maybe that will help.

hyrdogen peroxide....straight from the bottle...steam it out by soaking the arms with hydrogen peroxide and then lay a clean white dry towel on top of the arm and put the iron on steam and push h*** o* the iron to steam it out...the dirt will go into the clean towel (which will then wash out)...i did this to my carpet and it is like magic
